sixteen!

chapter sixteen the world slows down with you

the five best friends finished all the rides in the carnival, minus the ferris wheel, by six in the after noon. noah heard that there was a music festival, and now, the group are on their way to the stage where they held the festival on the other side of the carnival.

people in the crowd started to cheer as the coloured lights started flash, and the host introduced the first artist. but in this case; artists.

the neighbourhood.

they walked in and each of the band members went to their spots, getting ready to perform.

as they started playing, millie recognised the song; 'sweater weather' and squealed, "holy fuck, i love them!" she stood on her tippy-toes, trying to get a glimpse of them, but failed. millie frowned. and finn noticed that. "you wanna get on my back?" he offered, since he had a perfect view because of his height.

"you sure? no offence, batman, but you don't exactly have the strengths to carry my ass."

"and that's where you're wrong, millie brown, i have the muscles of a man." millie's fan-love for the band on stage probably caused her to say yes to his offer. and so millie got on his back, and she didn't get that much of a bad view.

however, finn wasn't doing so good. his stick-like legs started to shake, while millie softly hummed to the song, he bit his lip, trying to hold her up longer as he gripped on to her legs twice as firm as before.

"m-mills, you better get off before you-" thud!

"fall." millie hit her butt on the grass. while finn looked at her with a look of guilt on his face, as he showed a nervous smile at her.

"sorry." he muttered, reaching for her hand, and hoisting her up. "why do we always fall on each other?" millie jokingly asked.

it probably would've made more sense if millie had said, 'why do we always fall for each other?'

"i have no idea," finn cheekily smiles at the girl.

then a voice spoke from the stage, "thank you so much for coming everyone, we'll perform one more song before we go," millie couldn't really recognise which band member said that. "here's sadderdaze for you all!"

millie's eyes lit up, "this is my favourite song!" she gasped, and a light red took over finn's freckled cheeks.

millie turned to him and said: "dance with me?" she batted her eye lashes and looked at him with a shy grin. finn only nodded, the red on his cheeks turning into an even deeper shade.

finn faced her now, millie put her arms over his shoulders, and his snaked around her waist.

a miracle always seemed to happen when ever the sun sets, because as the small fairly lights illuminated the whole field, the sky turned into colours of pink and orange as the chorus of sadderdaze started to play, while finn and millie danced beneath the setting sun surrounded with a mix of pink and orange clouds.

"is it weird?" millie whispered looking down, "what's weird?" he replied with another question.

"how the world seems to slow down with you,"
