Chapter Twelve

The next couple days the news of Victoria and Charles' relationship had spread like wild fire throughout the whole school. Everyone knew that Charles and Victoria are dating-'fake' dating, in Victoria's opinion. Everywhere she goes scrutinizing eyes follow her. Alexa even made it her personal goal to made Victoria her personal dumpsite. From the soda, it escalated ice cold smoothies to, recently and apparently Alexa's personal favorite, hot coffee-boiling hot coffee.

Victoria was seating down on one of the benches outside enjoying the fresh breeze that playfully blew all around. A book perched in between her lap. She was reading one of the books she bought over the summer.

The bench she was seated was away from the prying and scrutinizing eyes of the school population. And most importantly away from the boy she wanted to so desperately avoid-Charles.

Ever since she agreed to him playing to be his girlfriend, he was there beside her like glue. Everywhere she goes, he is there. During breakfast, lunch, dinner and the fact that they are seated together not only during these meals but also in their classes together is not helping her situation.

He acts sweet towards her that Victoria had trouble not swooning to him as he did those. But every time she does, she holds herself back. Reminding herself that love won't take her anywhere she closes it off. Besides everything that he is doing is all an act. Nothing more.

She sighed as she turned the page of the book she was reading. It was the last chapter and she was almost done. A smile played her lips as she was still stuck in the world of the book she was reading that she wasn't aware what is happening around her. Then suddenly hot liquid started pouring down from her hair in to her face. It's burning her skin that she could stop the scream that erupted from her throat.

The book fell from her lap as she hastily stood up from the bench. Standing in front of her was Alexa and her a few other girls from the popular group of the school. An empty coffee cup was held in Alexa's

had as she laughed at what she did.

"Oops," she said innocently, "My bad! I didn't see you there. You shou-"

But before Alexa could anything more, someone cut her off. "Shut up you bitch!"

Arms helped Victoria as she tried in vain to wiped away some of the hot sticky liquid off of her. Victoria looked up to find Alyssa and Lacey helping her.

Her screams had managed to get the attention of most students near them. And apparently, Lacey and Alyssa were just there to help her and insult Alexa in the process. An opening that Alyssa happily took.

"Oh!" Victoria heard Alexa said. "You're gonna fight her battles for her. How sweet! Commoner finally found new friends."

Lacey said, "We should take you to see the nurse your skin is turning bright red."

"At least, she has real friends, slut," Alyssa replied smirking. "What about you?" she left turning her back towards Alexa with a smug smile on her face assisting Victoria to the nurse's office.

Victoria sat down on one of the infirmary bed after the nurse finally finished with applying the salves in her face, neck and other places that was burned by the coffee. She was lent a new shirt by Alyssa after the nurse insisted that she changed before they applied the salves on her.

The sterile white walls of the infirmary did nothing to ease Victoria's nerve as the fact that she is afraid and hate anything that is related to infirmaries or hospitals. And the smell wasn't helping.
