We finally make it back to the hotel, where we find almost no one in the lobby. Huh that's strange.
"Hey Lucy what time is it?" I ask hoping for some clarity on where everyone is. She looks at a nearby clock. Her eyes widen and fill with terror. She grabs Natsu and runs towards the elevators.
"Hurry y/n!" she shouts with a mixture of worry and fear in her voice. I am in no place to question so I run along after her. Once safely in the elevator, I turn to the mortified Lucy.
"What's wrong why did you panic like that?" I inquire holding Flare asleep in my arms. Lucy shifts her face to meet mine.
"We're late." her voice shaking and her face pale. She gulps. "We're late...for Erza." I felt all the blood run out from my face. I wasn't even the one facing her wrath and I was mortified. I swear that elevator took three times as long to get up on the floor. The second those metal doors open we all rush down the hallway. We see Gray running from the other set of elevators. He was as panicked as we were.
"Oh y-y/n i-it's good to s-see y-you," he choked, "gl-glad y-you made i-it." I could only nod in appreciation. Then I notice Lucy, who is in front of me, stop at one of the doors. She slowly, slowly push the door open. When the doorway was wide enough for me to look through, I could see Erza sitting on one of the beds with her legs crossed and her head down and her eyes closed. They are so screwed.
"You know I think you guys can handle-" Lucy yanked me into the room before I could finish. After we had all entered the room she glared at us. Her eyes sharper than her swords.
"Sit," she ordered. We all immediately obeyed. She soon began to interrogate us on where we were and why we were late. Apparently Gray was at dinner while we were facing those two Twin Douche-bags. When the questioning was over, Erza noticed something. "Do any of you know where Wendy ran of to?" she asked. Both Gray and Lucy murmured 'no'.
"It's almost midnight she should be back by now," I chime in with concern for the young dragon slayer. Lucy of course goes off in her imagination, which for the record is just about as insane as Juvia's. Just then Lisanna and Elfman burst through the door holding supplies and booze. Thank God.
"Gonna need some fuel for the games tomorrow," Lisanna giggles.
"Yeah a REAL MAN needs to keep his energy up!" Elfman booms.
Soon Erza confronts Lisanna about Wendy and they divulge in conversation, not noticing the time. I go and check on Flare in the bed I put her in earlier. She was sound asleep. Suddenly the clock strikes twelve.
"Oh no it's already midnight," Lucy squeals. She holds her hand over her mouth. "What's going to happen?" Her eyes snapping on Erza.
"I don't know," Erza answers as the bell tolls over and over again. Abruptly a voice can be heard from outside.
"Gooood Morning~" the giant pumpkin hologram sings. It then begins to explain the rules of the preliminary round, the building starts to shake. Before any of us knew what what happening, the hotel was high above the other shops. This surprised all of us, but mainly Elfman, who dropped the case of beer on his leg when he fell. he yelled out in pain. We all ran to hear the instructions, well all except Elfman who was too embarrassed to admit he was actually hurt by the beer and the fall.
The orange figure speaks again, "You can use any magic you see fit," and continues to say, "Only eight teams will move on but remember all five members must cross the finish line to pass the round." He does an awkward little jig and lastly yells, "Goood Luck competitors!!" Then he vanishes.
"So it's a race huh?" Natsu starts with adrenaline in his veins, "Then let's go!"
"No we can't," Erza declared grabbing Natsu down from the balcony ledge.
"Why not?" he whined. Erza scuffed at his ignorance.
"We need all five members, remember?" she explained, " And Wendy isn't here." Natsu and gray suddenly grew extremely panicked. Suddenly we hear a boom from inside. To all our surprise we see Elfman struggling to stand.]
"Why wait for a little girl when you got a real man right here?" he asserted.
"Becasue that 'real man' just dropped two cases of booze on himself and hurt his own leg, " I snap back. Elfman backed-down defeated. I kinda felt bad, but he couldn't compete with that leg anyway.
"But we still need five members," Lucy exclaimed, "Wait what about you, y/n?" I stare back at the ditsy blonde. What me? Is she serious? What about Flare? Natsu could see the uncertainty across my face.
"You'll get a chance to get back at that blond dragon slayer from earlier~" he teased. A sudden rush of power surged through my body.
"Not if we keep standing around I won't!" I shout as I jump the balcony onto the wooden path made in the sky. I beam back at my newfound teammates, "Come on, I won't get to smash pretty boy's face in if we keep standing here." This seemed to motivate them as they all jumped over the balcony and joined me on the path. "Oh and Lisnanna," I said turning back, " Apologize to Flare for me, will ya?" She seemed shocked I was asking her.
"O-Oh of course, y/n," Lisanna replied, "I'll take good care of her." I chuckled at her comment.
"I'm not worried about that, she can take care of herself just fine, " I explained, "She's just going to be pissed at me for a while." With that I move back towards the team.
Natsu looked around and said "On you mark, get se-"
"Oh shut it Natsu there are already teams inside the labyrinth," Lucy shouted, "Let's go" So we all followed her lead and ran into the maze.
