~Flashback~

"Hold on a minute," I interrupt, " Are you saying Rufus has the ability to know where we are at all times?" Master Mavis glances up from the floor.

"Yes," she states quietly, "So it stands to reason that he should be defeated first." Gray nearly knocks over his stool from standing up so quickly. I almost fall out of mine next to him from the scare.

"I'd love to take that guy down myself," he growls, "Will you please let me handle him?" He sounds desperate. I know how much it hurts him. Mavis couldn't even look him in the eye.

"According to my calculations," she begins, " You are at a significant disadvantage in a fight against him." I hear Gray's breath hitch at her insult, or at least what he'd take as one. "It' unlikely that you'll win." Gray's whole body is shaking. He's gonna blow.

"I don't give a crap about that!" Gray thunders, "I wanna save Lucy." I can't help but smile at his boldness. Glancing over I see Gajeel and Laxus do the same. "And I owe him a good thrashing," Gray continues, "You know I'm a proud Fairy Tail wizard, so let me fight him." There is an intense silence that falls upon the group. The First Master fierce gaze matches Gray's.  Finally she closes her tired eyes, signaling defeat.

"Sometimes emotions can surpass what is calculated," Master Mavis begins, opening her eyes, "Show us the power of what you feel." Corny but true.

~End if Flashback~

I can see Gray standing before Rufus on the lacrima-trons. Please be able to do this.

"Alright you mask wearing freak," Gray shouts, "Let's rock!" He stands in a battle stance. His face defiled with anger. I really hope it doesn't get the better of him. No, stop thinking like that. Gray can do this and he will. I wish I could stay and watch more but I need to keep moving. I have to get in position. In the background I hear their battle commence. Gray shoots off two spells, which Rufus apparently dodges. Now it was his turn. Rufus blasts Gray with a combination of his own ice and a familiar black lightening. Then gusts of wind are thrown at Gray, but I know he can manage that he has a ton of defense spells. Suddenly I hear a body hit the ground. Shit. I can't turn around. I have to keep going.

"Come one Gray," I whisper as my legs continue at their rigorous pace.

"He's unsteady but he's back on his feet!" the announcer yells. Oh thank God. I feel a tear fall from my eye. Wait, when did that happen? Damn it, Gray, toying with me like that. Just get up and fight the guy already.

"Blade of Flashing Lightening!" My ears ring with Rufus' voice. Shit. That sounded powerful. This time I force myself to watch. A Titan looking figure appears in front of Gray, winging his two-pronged sword at him. Fuck! He's down. Somehow Gray finds his way back to his feet. God, how I wish I could pummel the guy for you, but I know this is something that you need to do for yourself. God speed, Gray. I focus myself back on the path ahead of me. Keep running. Stay focused. Suddenly an explosion attracts my eyes. Shit. That came from the library.

"Come on, Gray!" My voice fills with frustration.

"Oh boy, "the announcer chimes, "Looks like Gray's little girlfriend is stricken with worry." I glance up to see my own face plastered across the larcrima. Though I'm tempted to flick it off, Gramps said I had to behave myself. I scoff and keep racing down the street. I can't get distracted I have to concentrate.

"Holy cow!" the announcer screeches, "The hits just keep on coming." No. No. No. I can't listen. I push my legs harder, nearing their breaking point. I have to get out of here. "That's gotta hurt," he continues, " Gray literally has the weight of the world on his shoulders." No, don't look back. Don't be distracted. Put your head down and run, damn it! "Finally," the announcer shrieks, " Gray Fullbuster springs into action with a long awaited counter attack!" A breath I didn't realize I was holding, escapes my mouth. Even though I don't reciprocate his romantic feelings, he's still my best friend and nothing can change that. I slow my pace down to a stop. My feet are worn. My lungs are stretched. Nevertheless I turn back towards the lacrima.
