Tyrion
Tyrion is escorted to the area where the combat is scheduled to take place. Everything looks just as predicted on that machine the Lady Steffana produced. Oberyn has on virtually no armour while the Mountain wears a ton. Tyrion knows what is going to happen and so against Steffana's instructions he attempts to warn Oberyn,
"Listen, about the confession-"
But as he starts, suddenly lady Steffana appears behind Oberyn and shakes her head no. Inside of his head Tyrion hears lady Steffana speaking to him,
Only you can hear me or see me. Listen Tyrion, just let this play out as predicted. I promise you. I won't let anyone get hurt.
"Surely someone should get hurt. Preferably the Mountain." Tyrion mumbles. To which Steffana responds,
No one is going to die today Tyrion. Not on my watch. Today we will have a peaceful day in Kings Landing, finally. Just say to Oberyn all the things you said before, about his armour being to light, about not drinking. That was perfectly decent advice. He's so arrogant, you know. You were right to try and tame that ego of his. In the end it was his cockiness that got him killed.
And so Tyrion decided to trust Lady Steffana, and he did as instructed. He made all of the same remarks, with the same inflections and incredulity as before, or at least he tried. The battle began, just as he'd seen only moments earlier in the dungeon, except this time it was for real. When they got to the part where Oberyn was standing over the Mountain screaming and yelling about this confession and the rape and murder of Elias and her children, it took everything in Tyrion not to run out on to the stage to save Oberyn from himself, but just as the Mountain grabbed Oberyn's leg, he heard lady Steffana once again,
Trust me. This is going to be amazing!
In a blink of an eye, she was center stage right beside Oberyn and the Mountain. As the Mountain pulled Oberyn down, and was just about to knock all of his teeth out, Lady Steffana shouted out,
Freeze!
And with that they both became quite still. All eyes turned to the lady Steffana. Tywin shouted,
"What is the meaning of this? Guards seize this intruder!"
With that Lady Steffana began to laugh. As the guards attempted to race towards her, they knock up against some kind of invisible barrier. No one could get within ten feet of her. She continued to laugh while the crowd looked on in shock and fear. It seemed chaos was about to break out, but next, Lady Steffana held up both her hands in a peaceful gesture and announced,
"I am Steffana Scott, of the Shakespearian Scott's. I am an angel of mercy, and I come in peace. I also came to set the records straight. Tyrion is no murderer...at least, not yet. I'd like to keep him that way, if I can help it."
With that, Steffana walks over to the frozen fight seen, and she unbeleivably lifts, with her little finger, the Moutain off of Prince Oberyn. Once he's on his feet, she commands him,
"You stand over there."
As the Mountain obeys her commands he seems dumbfounded as if he cannot understand what in the world is happening to him. It's clear that he doesn't want to obey Steffana, but he seems to have no other choice. He does as he is told.
"And as for you, Prince Oberyn, although you'll never thank me for it, I just saved your life." As she extends a hand to him, to help himm off of his back she says, "Go to your lover."
Oberyn seems, much like the Mountain, dumbfounded, but he obeys without dissent. Then lady Steffana is center stage and all eyes are on her. The crown is dumbfounded as well. No one can quite beleive what they are seeing. Next Steffana announces,
"No one is going to die today."
Then she extends a hand to Tyrion and says,
"And the good and the just will receive their due."
With that, Tyrion walks out to her, center stage, but as he walks he notices that odd feeling of dizziness and stretching that he encountered in the dungeon. Suddenly he is well over six feet tall. Seeing him grow right before their eyes, the crowd once again becomes unsettled. There is gasping, and shreiking and wondering how such a thing could be. Cersei and Tywin remain equally stone-faced, while Jaime is clearly delighted.
"The imp is no more. Here Tyrion stands beside me, a full man."
Steffana turns to Tyrion, looks him in the eyes and says,
"Shall we set the record straight?"
Tyrion almost cannot conceive of what has just happened to him. Here he stands well over six feet, looking out at all of those who would condemn him to die. To finally be on equal or better footing than all of them...he was right to trust Lady Steffana, this was much, much better than cancelling the combat. So Tyrion responds,
"By all means Lady Steffana."
"As I said before, Tyrion did not kill Joffrey, but before I get into any of that, I want to show you all what would have happened today, had I not intervened."
Steffana pulled out her VWIP and extended the holoscreen to thirty feet. The court onlookers watched in amazement as thirty foot holographic images of Prince Oberyn and the Mountain, battled to the death.
