Chapter 2

First period was Biology and I couldn't help but think of the wink Ethan gave me, and the only reason I was thinking about it was because he and I have never had any sort of interaction. Not until today.

The thought instantly goes away when Mrs Crestfield gives my pair, Ryan, and I a sheep's heart.

“Since the heart of a sheep is similar to that of a human, we will be dissecting it today,” she says to the class. I see Ryan trying to keep his breakfast down.

I catch a glimpse of Heather and I can tell that she not enjoying this.

She looks up at me and she give me a sly smile, then she points at the window. I look to my side and I find Ethan standing outside. Frantically waving his arms so I could see that he want to talk to me.

It's a surprise that Mrs Crestfield didn't see him.

He mouths the words “come outside.” I asked to be excused from the class and I am given a pass.

I step outside and I see him smiling at me. I try holding back my own smile as I move closer to him. In the most confident tone I can muster, I ask, “What do you want from me, Ethan?” “Come on. Not even a tiny smile to show how happy you are that you're not dissecting some poor sheep's heart?”, he says with the widest grin, flashing his pearly-white teeth.

“Just tell me what you want so I can go back to class.” “What I want is for you to go to the Summer Solstice dance with me.” “Is this some sort of prank, Ethan? Because if it is, I'm not falling for it.” “Why would you think it's a prank?”

“Because you have never uttered a word to me since I've met you and we've known each other since the 2nd grade. We were even put in the same group for a project in the 6th grade and you didn't say a word to me then. So it's kind of a surprise that someone you've known for nine years and haven't spoken to since you've met is someone you want to go to the dance with.”

He looks at me with his crystal blue eyes. He looks amused and taken back by what I said.

“And aren't you taking Allison to the dance because I thought you two were an item.” “Allison Cheng is not my girlfriend, babe.” I blush at the pet name. “Emily, please go to the dance with me. Please.” I roll my eyes.

“Since you're practically begging, I'll think about it.” “Think about it? I was expecting an immediate answer.” “Oh, really now? Well, I guess you'll have to wait,” I say as I walk back into the school building, leaving him standing with an awestruck face.

As I get into class, the bell rings for the second period. I hurriedly pack my stuff to avoid being bombarded by questions from Heather, but she manages to catch up to me.

“So, what did Ethan want?” “Nothing important. Just asking if I will be at the next football game. You know, since it's the Westfield Leopards against the Jefferson High Bulldogs.” “You spent fifteen minutes outside with the guy just so he can ask you if you're going to a stupid football game. He could have just texted you. I know that is a lie and a bad one for that matter. Just tell me what he wanted. Please.” It seems like everyone is begging today.

“It's really nothing important. He just wanted to ask me to the dance.” “Did you just say what I think you just said? Tell me you said yes, you'll go with him, because if you do go with him, it'll be a double date.” I raise my eyebrows when she says "double date".

“What do you mean double date?”, I ask. “Didn't I tell you? Hunter asked me to go to the dance with him. He asked me last night and I said yes.” I stop dead in my tracks. “He did what? Don't lie to me bitch, because you know how I feel about lies when it comes to things like this.” “I'm not lying. I'll show you the texts later”, she says as she pulls me into English class.

{a/n_ Literally winged 70% of this chapter. I had a whole chapter written down in my book and I just forgot about that when I got home and let my imagination do its thing. How'd you like this chapter?}
