Chapter 9
The following day I decide to call out Amelia on what she did last night. You know, her going behind my back and pulling me into the trap that was a "date" with Noah. I mean, how desperate is this guy. But I guess it's kinda cute.
After getting dressed in a white skirt that is high waisted and tight around my waist, but flowy at the bottom and a black tank top, I go down to have have breakfast.
I find Amelia sitting on one of the counter chairs, oblivious to my presence as she taps aways on her phone.
I take out a white and yellow bowl and pour cornflakes in it. I reach for the milk in the fridge and pour half the contents in.
I sit down across from Amelia and glare at her. She looks up after she realizes that there is a pair of eyes set on her.
“Oh, hi,” she says with a bright smile. She's wearing a cute orange sundress and has her hair in a high ponytail.
“I know what you did,” I say, a bit too vague because Amelia has done a lot of things.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” She asks, confusion masking her face.
“Last night, I know that you and Michael set me up with Noah. I mean, how else could you explain his presence, since it was supposed to be an outing with you, Michael and I, so that I can know him better, right?” I ask with one eyebrow raised and a smile.
“Let's say you were right and Michael and I set you up, you enjoyed the night, didn't you?” She asks, expecting me to just ooze into a puddle of happiness.
“Um, I don't know if you didn't notice or you're completely blind, but there was tension in the car, as well as at the restaurant. There's a reason for that. Noah and I aren't exactly on speaking terms.” I sigh at the thought of our argument.
“Why? What happened?” Amelia asks with an expression of concern.
“I told him that I'm going on a date with Ethan on Saturday and he flipped. I seriously don't know what wrong him or what he has against Ethan.” I say then shove a spoonful of cornflakes in my mouth.
“I may have a few ideas of why he "flipped" when you told him that you were going on a date with Ethan.” She says, emphasizing the fact that I'm going with Ethan Miller. My eyebrows shoot up in wonder and she takes it as a sign to continue.
“Michael may have told me that Noah told him that he likes you,” she says with a sly smile playing on her lips.
I look at her then burst out laughing. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
“What do you mean likes me? The guy known me for less than a month and he thinks he likes me?” I honestly couldn't even begin to process this piece of information. How in the world could Noah Anderson like me, Emily Cummings? It just didn't add up.
I shake my head in disbelief while I rinse my now empty bowl.
“I'm leaving. Do you need a ride?” I ask Amelia.
“No. Michael's picking me up,” and two seconds later, I hear the purr of a car on our driveway and Amelia heads out.
I grab my car keys and make my way towards school.

Maneuvering my way through the crowded halls is very difficult.
I don't understand why the whole school population in standing in the hallways instead of making their way to class.
Then my eye gets caught by a yellow paper on one of the notice boards.
