Chapter 6
I woke up Monday morning, dreading having to go to school. School meant that I had to tell Heather what happened and I didn't want to repeat the saga and school also meant Ethan.
With a groan, I got out of bed and shuffled to the bathroom.
To calm myself nerves down I blasted my favourite song, Ninety by Jaden Smith and put it on repeat. I slowly washed my body then washed my hair using my favourite vanilla scented shampoo.
I got dressed in my favourite blue jeans that were cut at the knees and my favourite Iron Maiden band-tee. I paired my outfit with my favourite pair of Vans.
I wore my hair down so that it was able to cover my face whenever I saw Ethan. I know, ridiculous. Sue me.
I managed to get everything done with 10 minutes to spare and I went downstairs to get my breakfast on.
I found mom sitting with Amelia in the kitchen, eating and chatting.
"Hi mom, hi Amelia." I greet them both before dishing out the pancakes and drowning them in syrup.
"Hi, honey. I haven't seen you all weekend. Are you alright?" My mom asks with a concerned look on her face.
The only reason my mom didn't see me this weekend was because I was cooped up in my room and was surrounded by the cocoon that was my blanket.
Seeing the look of concern on her face made me feel guilty for not telling her what happened.
Amelia and I always shared everything with our mom because she is the only one we have.
Our dad died when he was doing a tour in Vietnam.
"Yeah mom, I'm fine, just a little sick." And cue glare from Amelia. I look at her and I could tell that she wants me to tell mom what happened.
"Actually, something happened at the dance. I'll tell you when I get back from school, okay mom?"
"Okay, sweetie. Now leave before you're late for school."
Walking to the car, it's only then that I realise how dolled up Amelia looks.
She is wearing a light blue camisole and a white miniskirt. She even has makeup on.
"Why are you dressed like you're going to the club that just opened downtown?" I ask her with a slight smirk.
"What, you mean this old thing. I just threw these together." She says, but I know she's lying because her cheeks had now changed to a bright shade of red.
"I know you're lying Amelia. Just tell me where you're going."
"I'm not going anywhere, just on a date with Michael after school"
I look at her with the same wide eyes I had the day she told me she was going to the dance with Michael.
My mouth had dropped to the shape of an O then after a few seconds of staring at each other, my mouth broke into the biggest smile it could possibly be. I walk to her and hug her so tight that I'm sure I cut off the air circulation to her brain.
I let her go then I drop the question. "Are you guys dating?"
From the way her eyes sparkle and the way her cheeks turn to a crimson red, I already know what the answer was.
I can't believe she has a boyfriend. Her first boyfriend.
"Does mom know?"
She nods. I squeal so loud I'm surprised that she was able to here my next statement.
"I'm so happy for you Amelia. At least one of us gets their happily ever after."
She giggles then says, "I'm sure you're prince charming is out there for you."
"Dont use that fairytale crap on me. I'm not eight." I say to her playfully.
We get to school and meet up with Samantha and Heather at our usual morning spot, which was under a huge oak tree at the center of the school.
"Hi Emily. How are you? I tried reaching you this weekend but you ignored all my calls. Is everything alright?" Samantha says with a frown.
"And I've heard about Ethan. He is a total jerk. You honestly deserve better than him." Heather adds.
Amelia just smiles at me sympathetically, know that nothing she could say could ease the tiny ache in my heart.
"Let's go out for ice cream during lunch." Heather suggests.
My mood immediately brightens up at the mention of ice cream. These girls really know the way to my heart.
Ten minutes before the bell rings, Heather and Amelia walk together to Geography and Samantha and I head over to English, my favourite subject.
Mr Duhamel is probably the best teacher in the whole school. He listens to the students and there are really good arguments between him and the class. He's fair with tests, unlike Mr Collins, my math teacher.
I take my usual seat near the back of the class and Samantha sits next to me.
I take out my notebook and rummage through my bag in search of a pen when I'm suddenly attacked by the scent of jasmine and a hint of cocoa butter lotion. I immediately know who the scent belongs to.
"What the hell are you doing here Allison. Don't you think you have tortured me enough?" I ask her with a scowl so deep, I'm surprised she did not walk away when she saw it.
"I just wanted to ask how the dance was since I have to write an article about it for the school newspaper" She says with a sickeningly sweet voice. She bats her eyelashes to look innocent, but we all know that she is anything but.
"Why don't you go ask one of your minions, or better yet, write the article based on your experience? Oh, I forgot, you were too busy shoving your tongue down my date's throat to actually experience the dance" I say to her, annoyed at the fact that she could stand in front of me after the act she put on at the dance.
She laughs as though I just told her that I had a one-night stand with Ryan Gosling.
"Oh, you mean that little glimpse of what happened after the dance. I told you to stay away from him, now you're poor little heart is broken. It's really a shame." She says with mock sympathy.
She turns to walk back to her seat, but before she could sit down, she said "Oh, and Ethan is awesome in bed," then she winks.
Mr Duhamel walks in just before I could pounce on Allison and break her neck.
"Good morning everyone. I trust that you had an enjoyable weekend and you're ready to work your button off this week." He says as everyone scatters to their seat.
"Today we'll be reading a new book. To Kill A Mockingbird. I know that it sounds bor-" I don't hear anything he says from then until the end of the lesson when he says that there'll be a test next week based on the chapters we're reading.
I walk out of his classroom and make a beeline straight to my locker to take my Math textbook.
By the door of my locker is a note placed between a bunch of roses. As well as chocolate.
The note read:
