Chapter 4
It's Wednesday afternoon and Amelia and I head to the mall to try out a few dresses.
"So who is taking you to the dance?", I ask Amelia with a raised eyebrow. "Michael", she says casually.
I was just about to shrug it off because I didn't know anyone named Michael at school, then I remembered that she mentioned a Michael once.
I stop dead in my tracks and I turn slowly towards her direction.
"Michael? Michael Worthington? Star of the swimming team? Tell me that this is a prank."
She shakes her head to reassure me that this is not a prank. She really is going with him to the dance. I jump up and down and do my happy dance. It looks like a penguin learning how to walk, and looked fucking ridiculous as well as embarrassing, but I do it anyway.
We walked into a cute boutique and after trying on seven different dresses, I finally decided on something I liked.
It was a cerulean blue flowy dress that fell just above my knees. It had an open back and I nearly did not recognize myself in the mirror. I decided I would pair the dress with a pair of illusion heels.
Amelia decided she would buy a black lace skirt as well as a matching crop top. It looked both elegant and chic.

Friday evening finally fell and Amelia and I got prepared for the dance. Michael and Ethan said they'd pick us up at 19:00 and it was 10 minutes before they arrived.
"How should I style me hair?" I ask Amelia and she says I should do it in a bun. Saying that having my hair up will make my facial features "pop".
I hurriedly did my hair then looked at Amelia nervously, and as if on cue, the door bell rang. "I'll get it," my mom calls out from the living room.
We walk down the stairs to find Michael and Ethan chatting with my mom. "We're doing fine, Ms. Cummings and how are you?" says Michael. "Oh, please, call me Leanne, and I'm great," my mom replies.
Their gazes land on us as they acknowledge our presence. "Wow, you look...wow," was all Ethan managed to utter.
For someone who had a tendency of opening his mouth, with a remark, it was surprising to see Ethan speechless.
"Hi, Emily," Ethan says, as he shamelessly drinks me up. Eyes wondering up and down my body. I feel a blush creep up from my neck and to my cheeks.
"Hey," I say back. He hands me my corsage after a few more moments of staring.
"You look like princesses," say Michael. "That's because they are. And I expect them to be treated as such," my mom remarks.
We leave and head for the car as my mom shouts from the house, "Don't do anything I wouldn't do." I look at Amelia in disbelief and she has the same look on her face as mine.
We get to the school and we enter the beautifully decorated gymnasium.
The social committee really outdid themselves with tonight's event. The place was decorated with fairy lights and was lightly dimmed and the fairy lights were the only source of light.
It looked like something out of a book or a movie. It was really beautiful.
Ethan and I hit the dance floor as soon as the next song comes and and after dancing with him for a solid 15 minutes, I tell him I need to get some punch.
It was no surprise when I found Samantha at the serving table. Stuffing her face with different types of food that was put on the table.
It baffles me how she is able to eat so much food, yet remain so small. I wished I had her metabolism.
"Hey," she says through a mouthful. I gave her a lame wave. "How's the dance so far?" She asks me with a glint in her eye. "It's great. I think Ethan might like me. I just feel like we 'click', if you get what I mean."
She looks at me with a dazed look on her face. I realize she is not looking at me, but she's looking past me.
I turn to see what's got her so tongue-tied. Then I see it. A wave of perfect, jet black hair belonging to only one person. She flirts with him and he seems to flirt back.
Allison throws herself on Ethan and gently tracing her finger along his jawline.
Then she kisses him.
He looked surprised at first, but their lips fall in sync. His eyes closed.
She turns my way, not tearing away from the kiss. She smiles against his lips when she seems my pained expression.
Realizing that she has grabbed my attention, she deepens the kiss by letting her tongue slip through his lips.
He has his hands in her waist, kissing her back. Slowly and passionately. Seeming to enjoy what is going on.
I feel like my world was shattered. I felt broken. I know it sounds too dramatic and clichéd, but I thought he was different.
Genuinely different.
But I guess I was wrong.

{a/n_ Poor Emily. My heart breaks for her. What do you think will happen next?}
And I forgot to mention, Michael will be played by Amarr M. Wooten
It's 18:45 and instead of doing what I'm supposed to do, which is summarising a whole book-chapter by chapter might I add-I'm on Wattpad satisfying my readers.
I do so much for you, the least you could do is vote and comment *wink wink*
