[A/N- Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been swamped with school work and home life is a mess. And as an apology, I'm uploading two chapters. 🙋🏽❤️]
Chapter 5
I calmly walked out of the gymnasium, wanting to go home and crawl into my bed and just cry. Cry until I couldn't anymore.
I realised I couldn't leave because:
1. I did not have a ride home.
2. It would be mean to abandon Amelia.
So I went to the bathroom. I stayed there for a good 15 minutes before I decide to face my demons.
When I got out, Im greeted by a warm smile from the least expected person.
Noah Anderson. A boy who is a grade higher than me.
He stood there. Smiling at me.
I have never gotten a good look at him until now.
He is tall and lean, and has broad shoulders. He has big brown eyes that glow whenever he smile. He has light brown hair that fall into his face too often. He has a sharp jaw and a smile so bright, it's almost blinding.
He looks gorgeous.
“Hi Emily. I'm so sorry for what Ethan did. He's a dumb ass for doing that to you. You deserve so much better than that,” his voice comes out raspy and is low. It makes me feel something I can't quite put my finger on.
At his words, my eyes begin to water. He steps closer, then pauses, as if to ask me if he should. I nod.
I embraces me in a hug. His scent immediately suffocating me.
He smells like soap, boy and a hint of cinnamon.
It's heavenly.
“I just thought he was different, you know? I wouldn't have come, he literally begged me to come. I should have known what his intentions were,” I say and I didn't realize I was crying until he pulled me away from him and wiped away my tears.
He hugs me again and before I can think, I say, “You smell so nice.” My words shock him, almost as much as they shock him. “Thank you,” he pauses “do you want to get out of here?”
I nod in agreement and tell him I have to text Amelia first, and I do so.
Me: I'm going out with Noah. I'll explain everything once I get home. You enjoy your night.
Amelia: What happened, Bubba?
Me: Don't worry about me. I said I'll tell you when I get home. Now get back to your date.
As soon as I'm done, we walk out to the parking lot. We walk over to him white Mini Cooper. “So, where to?” He asks me. “I'm really hungry, so I was think Darcy's Diner?” I ask, and he beams. “Good choice.”
We drive in comfortable silence and ten minutes later we are at the diner. He hops out of the car and walks over to my side, then opens the door for me. I feel a blush creeping up.
He reaches out and I take his hand. We walk silently and we take the booth at the back. A waitress named Marlene comes and takes our orders. Ten minutes later, two steaming plates of food are in front of us.
I order a burger with salad, along with some water. I was trying to lay off the calories. He order two pieces of chickens and large fries, as well as a chocolate milkshake.
He looks at my plate in disproval, “What are you, a rabbit?” He remarks and I snicker. “No, I'm just keeping healthy. I need to lose a one weight.”
He looks at me with pure shock. “I swear, if you become any thinner, you look like a toothpick. You need some meat in you, darling,” he says as he throws a piece of chicken on my plate.
I realize that he's right. I'm already thin. If I lose anymore weight, I'll look like a person who hasn't eaten in 5 months and who is really sick.
I take a large bite out of the burger and his eyes widen with shock. “How can someone so tiny do that?” I shrug, acting as if it's nothing.
We easily start conversation. We talk about everything. From our views on life and death, love and heartbreak and even politics.
I check the time on my phone and it reads 22:47. “Noah, I need to get home, I promised my mom I'll be back before 23:00,” I say to him. I look at him in his eyes and see a flash of emotion I couldn't quite read. Sadness? I think to myself.
He pays for the food even though I told him we could split the bill. He drives me home and we just before curfew.
We step onto the porch and stand there, staring at each other for a few moments. “We should hang out more,” he says suddenly. I agree and give him my number. He texts me so I can save his number.
Noah's Pov
She looked really pretty under the light at the diner. I said something to make her laugh. She throws her head back and it makes me feel warm inside knowing that I caused her to laugh like that.
Her eyes sparkle with joy that wasn't there when she came out of the gilrs' bathroom back at school.
I could stare at her the whole night.
The dress she was wearing really complimented her ocean blue eyes.
I noticed she had a tendency of biting her lower lip whenever she was nervous or uncomfortable.
She says that she needs to go home so I take her there. We stand on her porch and we look at each other. Her eyes wandering to the floor every now and then.
She was definitely breath-taking. In order to break the silence, I say that we should hangout more, but what I really meant was that I wanted to take her on a date.
I didn't say that because I didn't want to scare her away. I wanted her to be comfortable with me before we could do anything 'romantic'.
She give me her number and I shoot her a text.
Me: You looked really beautiful tonight.
She reads the text and she blush, a bright pink covering her cheeks.
I say goodbye, even though I don't want to.
When I get into the car, my lips tug up in what looked like a lop-sided grin. I was smiling like a fool.
I drove home thinking of her. I got into bed and sleep took over, thinking of her.
