Chapter 11: The Silver Cord

The next day I woke up in bed next to Sarah very early in the morning. We both got in very late last night, got changed into pajamas, freshened up, and then collapsed in her bed. I stretched feeling light and invigorated. I got dressed as Sarah slowly woke up.

"Going home already?" she muttered sleepily.

"Yeah, I have to take care of Lorie today," I say quietly, "plus now that I have the situation in perspective, I need to talk to the brothers."

She nods, still half-asleep and yawns, "I'll talk to my family later as well."

I nod and quietly leave her house so as not to disturb anyone else. Outside the air is chilly and bright, but I don't feel cold. I make my way back home and quietly make my way to my room, which, thankfully, hasn't been disturbed any further. I take a brisk shower, moisturize, put my damp hair up into a messy bun, pull on a short black skater skirt, white t-shirt and an over-sized grey cardigan along with my statement jewelry pieces; multiple rings, leather bracelets, and my locket.

I pad down to the kitchen and start making myself breakfast. I feel a fierce energy growing and pulsing deep inside me and coursing through my veins, it's warm and extremely powerful. I'm invigorated and revitalized by it. I can sense the brothers and Lorie asleep in their rooms, I can feel the life energy of all those in the town around me and feel their life, I can sense spiritual hotspots and the life energy of residual spirits that are still trapped here. There's a spirit of an elderly man walking around the manor's garden and I'm not intimidated by him in the slightest. He tips his hat to me in greeting as I put butter and jam on my toast and I wave back to him as I slice up fruit into a bowl and pour myself some orange juice and tea. I can feel the others start to stir and Lorie getting herself ready before she comes downstairs. Naturally, because they think I can't see them, they move at a supernatural pace.

My minds mental barriers were already extremely strong, but now they've increased tenfold, my appetite is coming back to me, I feel ready to take on the world and I can tell that my presence is being hidden naturally. I put my food on a tray and make my way to the dining room and sit down to eat. I can sense the brothers gathered in Nicolae's study, each of them equally as nervous as the other. I reached out with my energy and gauged to the room. Nicolae had a chalkboard on one wall and I could feel them talking frantically and pacing. I grin and use my magic to pick up the chalk to face the board, and using the table as my surface I write in my usual small but elegant script; Good morning. I even add a silly smiley face underneath and I feel them stop to look at it.

I hear bursts of laughter come from upstairs and I smile. At least I broke the tension. They entered the dining room a few minutes later awkwardly and sat down across from me. Peter, once again, is the first to speak to me.

"So...you're...a witch?" he enquires.

"Kind of..." I reply, taking a sip of my tea from my mug, "I'm really a medium, but I have witches blood in me."

They look at me quizzically and I continue to explain, "The past few weeks I found heirlooms of my family hidden around the town, and 2 days ago I found out that my birth parents were Juliette Everwood and Elliott Vatore."

Their eyes widen in surprise and I continue, "I found my mothers journal where she explained her relationship with you all and the situation with the descendants of the Templars. Unfortunately, someone who knew their location leaked the information and they were killed. I was spared because the Bardot's arrived in time to save me from the house fire that claimed my parents."

"And you suspect us?" Nicolae asked, a little sad.

I shake my head, "No, my mother made it clear in her journal how much she trusted you and that you didn't know where they were hiding. But there's something else more pressing right now you all need to be aware of."
