2 years. 2 years she's been gone. We didn't replace her. We couldn't. It took us all months to get over the fact she actually left and we're still reeling from the effects of Victor being in the Manor. We tried getting Regina Osborne to help us locate her, but the momentary truce that we had between our families was gone now that the Templars are no longer a threat. I'd thrown myself into my composing with more vigor than usual. I knew my brothers and sister were concerned about me. I know I've never acted like this before. I know I haven't composed a symphony in decades, that I haven't gone through so many music sheets or notebooks of poetry since I was alive, but I just can't cope not seeing her smile or hear her laughter in our halls or feel her presence in the room just a wall away from mine.
I missed her. I missed absolutely everything. I had something precious; an angel in my arms and I let her go. Without telling her anything about how I felt. The room next door was no longer warm and inviting, it was cold, empty and hollow. I missed her so much. That...THING...in the basement...it was more agitated now that she was gone too. Every now and again we could feel it fighting to get out. A white cat had also started showing up at the manor in recent months as well. The collar on her neck read 'Dinah', so we called her that. She liked to roam around the manor. We fed her, petted her and gave her milk. Lorie adored her and having her there helped put Lorie to sleep when she was being especially difficult. It was almost like having her back here.
My laptop was playing a mixtape I'd been working on to listen to while I work. Right now 'I prevail' was playing (Author's note: if you want to get a real feel for Peter's mood in this chapter guys, I do recommend listening to some I prevail songs while reading this, especially the one named in the title. It's where I got my inspiration.) and Drogo poked his head around my door.
"Dinah's here," he said, "she's eating in the living room with Lorie and Nicolae if you want to see her."
I think for a moment, then nod. Lorie was playing with her dolls and Nicolae was reading his book. Dinah was sitting on the coffee table delicately drinking her milk. For some reason, I thought of Ophelia everytime I looked at the graceful movements of this cat. Dinah has the same delicate, feline beauty Ophelia has- strong yet graceful. Damn! Even when she's not here her presence haunts me!
I kneel down and pet Dinah's snow-white fur. As white as Ophelia's skin...for god sake! I need to get a grip. Dinah, as if sensing my distress looks up and me with her bright blue eyes and meows loudly. She hops down from the table and moves to the door, stops, and meows yet again, moving her head in a 'follow me' manner. We all look at each other and decide to follow her. She leads us upstairs and along the hall towards Ophelia's room and I feel my chest tighten. Someone was in there. No. Not just someone. Ophelia was in there. We all looked at each other bewildered. Dinah was scratching at the door to go in. I reached forward, unlocked the door and pushed it open. The room was dusty and empty. We step inside, all of us looking for Ophelia but not finding her anywhere. What we did find, however, was a large, ornate mirror that none of us recognized. But what's more shocking is the fact that we can see our reflections in the glass. It eliminated magic. Ophelia's magic.
Dinah meowed in delight and rushed towards it. We all expected her to collide with the glass but instead, she passed straight through it. We all looked at each other in shock and moved towards the glass and cautiously passed through it...and ended up inside of a vast library bustling with people. Witches, werewolves and vampires alike. There was so much energy here.
Suddenly I spotted a familiar face walking towards us with a kind smile on her face. Sarah.
"So, Dinah finally brought you all to us," she smiled, "I was beginning to wonder. You must be a little confused as to what's going on, and I'll explain, but I've been given instructions to show you all to your rooms first."
