Leaving the Castle

Addie was leaning against the side of the couch trying to calm herself down as I sat on the bed with Max next to me as I had my knees pulled up to my chest and I stared into the fire that Jasper had lit in the fireplace earlier, "You mustn't blame yourself. None of us knew just how far Logan had fallen into madness." Jasper said as he tried to comfort both of us, "I have to do something. I can't- we just can't just stay here." Addie said, "And your not. We leave the castle tonight." Walter said as he walked in, "This kingdom needs nothing less than a revolution. It needs a new leader. It needs a hero. It's time to see if you're ready." Walter said as he looked at Addie then at me. I looked at him in confusion. Isn't it just Addie who was the hero?

Jasper nodded, "Very well. I will pack some essentials." He said, "There's no time. We take nothing." Walter said as I stood up from the bed and joined Addie by the door, "Not even pajamas?" Jasper asked in surprise, "Come on, we leave now." Walter said, "Don't worry madame. I will follow you wherever fate may take us." Jasper said as we left Addie's room.

We went down the stairs, "What about Elliot? We can't leave him here." Addie said, "Don't worry he's safe." Walter said, "And he can take care of himself. He's fine Addie." I said as we followed Addie. She sighed softly and nodded as we approached her parents tomb, "There's something rather sinister about this garden at night." Jasper said, "I know, it creeps me out every time I look at it when I spend the night. It's why the curtains are always closed when you come in the next morning." I said with a small laugh at the end which Jasper also chuckled at.

We then reached her parent's tomb, "Where are we going? I thought we were leaving the castle?" Addie asked, "It's time we payed our respects to Albion's last hero." Walter said, "I never thought I'd enter this place again." Jasper said, "You should have known better than that." Walter said as we walked inside.

We walked down the steps to see a large room with two golden tombs, "The night your mother died I promised her I would bring you both here. When you were older, and stronger." Walter said, I hesitated before speaking up, "Walter. Why do you look at me whenever you bring up Addie's parents and heroes?" I asked him. He looked at me for a second, "When you were very young you were in an accident. It happened while you were in Albion with your parents. You were on the verge of death and needed blood desperately but the only person willing to give it to you was Sparrow, the old hero queen. It happened when you were only six years old and you were barely even conscious at the time so it doesn't surprise me that you don't remember." He said seriously, "My parents started to hate me when I was six. Is that why?" I asked, "Sadly yes, I believe so. Your parents came to Albion often and they were a part of the group of people who despised heroes and when they found out that you had hero blood in you they hated it. They didn't want to take you back, but Sparrow made them anyway. Said it wasn't right for them to hate you for something you didn't have control over." Walter explained.

I looked down at the ground as I processed this new information that I was just given. They hated me and had hurt me for years just because of the blood that ran through my veins? My fists clenched in anger. How dare they?! That wasn't right! I mean, it's never right to hurt your child but over blood?! You have got to be kidding me!

Addie placed a hand on my shoulder, "Come on." She said softly as we followed Walter and Jasper over to a large golden statue. I zoned out of what Walter was saying, but looked up when I heard a loud click and saw the statue's hands fall and stop in front of us. It was holding a strange object. I hadn't played the games in a long time so I don't remember much. Only bits and pieces of it, "This is your mother's most treasured possession, the guild seal. It chooses those who have the power inside them. Those who have the potential to become legends. Take it." Walter said.
