I found the entrance that Walter had mentioned earlier and went inside. I saw boxes and little make shift beds with people scattered about the area. I wandered around for a bit until I found them in a room that had a map similar to the one in the sanctuary. I walked in and they turned to me, "Ah Dylan there you are!" Walter said, "Paige this is Dylan, Dylan this is Paige. She's the leader of the Bowerstone Resistance." Walter said as he introduced us. I smiled at her and she just nodded at me as I approached them, "You're brother is the reason we live underground. He's the reason we fight." Paige said to Addie, "How do we know they're any better?" She asked as she turned to Walter, "Let them prove it." Walter said simply, "It's not just me they need to convince. The people of this city need someone they can believe in. Prove to them they should follow you, then we'll talk. For now I have work to do." She said before looking at the papers on the table.
Walter turned to us, "Looks like you have some work to do too. You have a whole city to persuade." He said before everything dulled and turned grey as the guild seal symbol appeared in front of us. We walked through it and we were once again on the road to rule, "Today you have met the true voice of the people of the city. It is important that you win Paige and her resistance movement to your cause, and just as important that you prove to Bowerstone that you can be its rightful ruler and protectors." Theresa said before disappearing.
We walked through the gate and collected what we needed before heading to the sanctuary, "Alright." Addie said, "Let's see.... Dylan are you good at flirting?" She asked, "Nope." I said popping the 'p', "Well sucks for you cause you're better at it than I am. There's a woman over here in Brightwall that needs help getting out of a marriage with her awful husband. How about you handle that while I help this woman over here find her child?" She said and I sighed, "Fine." I said over-dramatically causing her and Jasper to laugh, "Stay safe you two." Jasper said, "Yeah Dylan, stay safe." Addie joked but I knew she was also being serious, "Don't worry. If he tries anything I'll kick his ass." I said.
Addie helped me find some clothes that I could wear temporarily while I did this, and she reassured me that I could change out of it immediately after. It just consisted of a grey shirt with a heart shaped hole cut out of it with a black jacket over it along with some black pants, but I kept my hair and shoes the same, "You look good." Addie said, "Hopefully he thinks the same or this won't work." I said before we left the sanctuary.
I went off to find the couple as Addie went to go find the woman. I was walking under the bridge when I heard two people arguing and I immediately recognized the house as the one that Addie had told me they were at.
I heard a door slam as I reached the bridge, and I went up to the woman who looked frustrated, "Oh, hello! I'm sorry you had to hear that. He can be a real nuisance sometimes. I would have left him a while ago, but then he would get half of my money! Oh wait. Maybe if.... no never mind." She sighed, "No it's fine just tell me." I said kindly, "Would you be willing to seduce him? Because if you can seduce him.... then he'll want to divorce me and I won't lose my money! Of course you won't have to actually marry him though." She said, "Based on the description you gave me I wasn't planning on it." I said with a wink and a laugh, "So you'll do it?" She asked hopefully, "Of course! Do you have any tips for me?" I said, "Oh that's easy. Just by him a few shiny things and he'll be all over you. Worked for me. And with looks like yours he'll be in love within seconds." She said with a laugh.
We were talking quietly so he wouldn't hear us from inside, "I'll go down to the pub to stay out of the way." She said before leaving. I went up to one of the shops and bought a couple rubies before making my way back to the house.
I went inside and saw him standing there, "Come to apologize?" He said snobbishly before turning to me. He froze when he saw me, "Oh I'm sorry. I was expecting my wife, but I don't know how I could mistake someone like you for her." He said as he looked me up and down and his eyes darkened. I walked up to him, swinging my hips as I did so.
I pulled him close to me and leaned down and brushed my lips against his ear. Addie and I were both significantly taller than the majority of the guys in Albion which I found funny cause in my dimension I'm short as hell compared to everyone else, "Heard you and that little wife of yours had a fight." I whispered lowly causing him to shiver slightly.
~Two hours later~
I was at the bridge with the man, "Go ahead and try. Let's see if I can resist you." He said, oh god I actually have to fucking propose to this bitch. I got down on one knee and took out the ring I had gotten earlier, "Will you marry me?" I asked, "Oh yes!" He said excitedly, "Now all that's left to do is divorce my wife." He muttered to himself, but I still heard him. He ran off back to his house and I smirked to myself as I stood up. It was dark out, and the moon was shining bright enough for me to see a figure heading down the trail. Reaver.
We made eye contact before I turned away. Oh my god he saw that didn't he? I hope not.... wait why do I even care?
I went back into the town and up to the house. I heard them talking, "You may consider yourself an ex wife." He said as I stood outside, "Vincent." Oh so that's his name, "I don't know what to say other than... thank you. Thank you for doing exactly what I knew you would." She said to him, "What? You planned this all along?" Vincent asked, "Sorry to say. I'll file these with the city clerk first thing tomorrow morning, and we are officially history. Thanks again." She said.
I walked inside and Vincent turned to me, "Well my enterprising love aren't you a piece of work. You make a deal with a housewife to split up her marriage and leave her husband penniless. Rather underhanded I would say." He said as he crossed his arms, "I wonder... how despicable are you willing to be? Because... if I think this through logically... if she never makes it to that office then the divorce never happens. And instead of marrying a hot-blooded divorce, you would be marrying a very wealthy widower." He said to which she scoffed, "What? You can't mean... you'd kill me?!" She said. "Well technically she'd kill you. I'm sorry Wilma, but it's a lot of money... you haven't left me much of a choice." Vincent said.
Wilma turned to me, "D-Don't listen to him! You can just walk away, this doesn't concern you anymore!" She said quickly, "If you don't do this than you will have no one else that will love you." Vincent said, "Don't, please." Wilma begged. I wanted to make sure nothing happened to her, but I also wanted to get away from Vincent.
Vincent walked over and grabbed my arm tightly, "Do it now." He hissed as his grip on my arm tightened causing it to hurt, "I don't think that will be necessary." I heard a familiar voice say. The three of us turned to see Reaver standing in the door way. Vincent quickly let go and I moved away.
Reaver took my arm and pulled me out of the house and across the bridge, "What are you doing?" I asked, "I should be asking you that question. What were you thinking?!" He said, "I was thinking that I could help someone out instead of being useless for once!" I said as I yanked my arm away from him, "He is a very dangerous man, you shouldn't be messing around with him." Reaver said, "So are you and look where we are." I said as we quickly walked down the path, "A simple 'thank you' would be fantastic." He said, "I had it under control!" I said, "Are you sure?" He asked sarcastically, "Yes! I was going to make sure he didn't hurt her and you came in and dragged me out!" I spat as I whipped around to face him.
He had a look of surprise on his face, but I guess that seeing as he can't just shoot me and kill me he's at a loss of what to do. I also noticed that he didn't have his hat on which surprised me a little seeing as he always has it on, "Yes well it seemed to me like you didn't have it under control, and if I didn't step in something could have happened to you." He said, "And why do you care?! I'm not that fucking useful anyway! If anything it's Adelaide you should be worried about, not me!" I said as a tear rolled down my cheek, "I'm not that important. I never was and I never will be." I said quieter this time, "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to Addie." I said before turning away and teleporting back to the sanctuary.
Jasper was waiting for me and gave me a sympathetic look, "I heard everything." He said as he hugged me.
~Reaver's P.O.V~
Why do I care about what happens to her? And why does it upset me to see her so upset and say that she isn't important? What is wrong with me?
