So I did it.

Because I knew I had to tell Russell how I felt about him, and I wouldn't have done that while I was dating Oliver.

The second time.

I did it so hurriedly, I don't even know what Oliver's reaction was.

I practically ran away.

But now I didn't have to feel so guilty of liking Russell.

I remembered my promise to Gretchen. To tell Russell Ley that I liked him before or on his birthday.

Well, Russell knew. He knew that I had broken up with Oliver because I liked someone else. I always tell him everything, just not the specific names.

He had a guess though.

"I bet you, I BET YOU IT'S-" I cut him off with slap to the back.

"Shut up!" I hissed.

He just grinned and came closer to whisper in my ear. "I bet you it's Jeff."

I ignored him.

"It is? Oh my god, it is!" he said excitedly.

I whipped my head around. "I never said that! Look, will you shut up if I tell you later on skype?" I asked him.

His face lit up. "YESYESYESYESYES!"

"Russell Ley, stop flirting with Leighton!" our science teacher, Mrs. Will said sternly.

I had to stifle a giggle as the whole class burst out laughing. Oh Mrs. Will, I wish. Russell groaned, blushing a little.

Mitch stared at me from across the classroom, and as soon as we made eye contact he mouthed 'ooh-la-la'.  I rolled my eyes at him, and went back to taking notes.

I logged on to Skype.

I guess it was final then. I was telling Russell that I liked him.

...I couldn't! Could I? Gosh, this was so nerve wrecking, why couldn't he just get online already?

Of course it just so happens that the moment I see him online, I freak out and change my status to invisible. But then of course, Russell just had to see him online before I went invisible.

russell ley: i saw you online, too bad leigh

leigh evans(:: ugh

russell ley: so fess up. who is this mystery guy

i bet you so badly that its jeff

leigh evans (:: noo....

russell ley: ok well then just tell me

leigh evans(:: you promise even if i tell you this it wont get awkward

russell ley: yeah yeah i promise

leigh evans(:: you sure?

russell ley: yeah i promise, plus why would it get awkward?

leigh evans(:: cause i like you

russell ley: oh..

thats awkward

leigh evans(: went offline

I screamed as I quickly jabbed my two fingers on the command key and the letter Q key. I heard my sister shout "shut up!" from the other room, but I couldn't contain myself. There. I said it. That was that, and I had fulfilled my promise with Gretchen.

Russell knew. I didn't know how I'd deal with this. What would I say when I saw him on Monday? Oh god, oh god, oh god.

Should I take it back?

But I actually got the courage to say it.

What if I lose our friendship because of this.

...Why didn't I think of it through better before I did this?
