❁Chapter 1❁

Jamie's POV

We finally arrived in California and honestly, I couldn't have been happier. New house, new school, new friends. I didn't have very many friends at my old school so this was a chance for me to restart. As we walked out of the airport, I felt the warmth of the sun hit my tan skin.

"Wow I didn't think California was gonna be this hot" I said

"Don't worry, we'll get used to it" my mom chuckled

We headed towards the cab and loaded our bags in. My mom told the driver our new address and we took off.

Throughout the drive, I never took my eyes off the window. I was amazed at how beautiful California was. Palm trees, blue skies, and lovely beaches. I couldn't wait until we get settled in.

After about 30 minutes, we finally pulled up to the driveway of our new house. It was two story and a little bigger than I imagined.

We unloaded our bags from the cab and headed towards the front porch. My mom unlocked the door and we walked in. There was a short little hallway that led to a huge room. On the left half of the room it was the kitchen and on the right half was the living room. I walked up the stairs and saw that there were 3 master bedrooms. I chose a room and set my bags down. I started making mental notes on how I'd like to decorate my room when, suddenly, my mom walked in.

"The moving trucks will be here tomorrow morning. Oh, and later today, we're gonna go to your new school to pick up your books and schedule" she explained

"Okay mom"

She left to her room to go unpack her belongings. I reached into my bag and pulled out my charger. I plugged in my phone and put on some music.

"Rejects" by 5sos began playing

I unzipped my luggage and hung my clothes in my closet. I opened up my duffle bag where I kept my shoes, and neatly put them away as well.

After I finished, I changed out of my comfy clothes and put on some black shorts, a gray muscle tee, and white converse. I quickly touched up my hair and makeup, grabbed my phone, and headed downstairs.

It was a quick drive to my new school. We got off the car and headed straight to the office where I got my class schedule and textbooks.

"So Jamie, you'll begin school on Monday" the nice office lady told me

"Don't be late on your first day. But other than that, I hope you enjoy it here. See you on Monday"

"Thank you" me and my mom said smiling

I grabbed my books and schedule and began walking to the car. It was already 2:00 so school had just ended for everyone.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw this guy staring at me. I turned my head and took a quick glance at him. A big smile appeared on his face so I smiled back.

He had dark brown hair that was quiffed up and was wearing a burgundy baseball tee with khaki colored shorts. He was cute, I thought. As I got into the car, I still felt him staring at me.

The next morning, the movers came and brought the rest of our stuff. We finally settled in and had all our furniture in place.

These past three days went by quicker than I thought. As soon as I know it, it was already Sunday night and I started school the next day. I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and went to bed earlier than usual. I kept thinking about the guy I saw today and then snapped myself out of it. He could be a jerk for all I know.
