She's Gone

Ada gave a smirk just before she disappeared into one of the rooms on the second floor. We wanted to run after her, but J'avos stood blocking our way. We took too long to get to the other side. A J'avo had operated on one of the controls, pulling the stairs up. We had to make a detour to get to the control room first. Amara took point as she cleared the fastest pathway. Piers and I opened a door, leading outside. Immediately, searchlights were on us so we ran all the way up. We eventually reached the control room and I pulled the switch, putting the stairs back. We made our way back to the vehicle bay, but the hatch suddenly lowered down, blocking our way to get into the room Ada entered.

"Well, that's just great, what else can go wrong? How the hell are we supposed to get that bulkhead open?" Piers yelled in frustration.

"We'll figure something out. That's our job. We've got a mission to complete. You got it?"

"...Yeah, I got it. Maybe we can blow it open."

The three of us went up the stairs to the walkway. Amara stopped, glancing at the back of the bay. "Hey, I think I found something to get it open," Amara said, nodding at a missile at the other end of the walkway.

There was a gap in the walkway so I boosted Piers first to the other side. I was about to boost Amara next when the walkways suddenly moved, causing us to lose balance. I grabbed Amara's hand just in time to prevent her from falling off. She thanked me immediately.

"Amara! Captain! Are you alright?" Piers asked through comms as soon as the walkways stopped moving.

"We're fine!" Amara answered, grabbing hold of her rifle.

"Just keep going. We'll meet up eventually," I said.

J'avos then poured down from the ceilings and attacked us. Amara and I cleared the path, getting to the other end of our walkway. There was a pipe overhead that could lead us to where Piers was. I told Amara to get across first, but she shook her head.

"Same old thing, Cap. I've got your back," she said with a chuckle.

"Be careful."

She nodded, instantly drawing her gun to shoot at incoming enemies. I made my way towards Piers, but snipers kept shooting at me. Luckily, I was fast enough to avoid them. I dropped down onto the walkway and called Amara to come over. Piers handled the snipers while I made sure that no J'avos were coming from Amara's side or ours. Unfortunately, I failed to notice one of them from below shooting at Amara. The bullet was shot right through her leg and she let out a wince. I killed the J'avo and helped her to get down once she reached us.

"I'm sorry. How bad is it?"

"I don't think I can't walk, Cap. Not unless we take out the bullet," she replied, holding on to me as she tried to stand up properly.

"Amara!" Piers shouted, coming right next to us.

"I'll live," she said next. "Let's just get it open."

I nodded. I let her rest against the railings while I made my way back to the missile. Piers had already turned the crank, so it was up to me to re-wire it. The missile was about to launch, so Piers covered both me and Amara. The bulkhead got destroyed, and I updated HQ that we were continuing our mission to apprehend Ada. Piers turned to Amara to take the bullet out, but a harrier emerged.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Piers grumbled.

"Later," Amara spoke, balancing herself on her left leg. "Let's get the hell outta here."

Piers offered to take point while I carried her on my back. There was no time to shoot at all the incoming J'avos while trying to avoid the attacks from the fighter jet, so we made a mad dash up to the second floor and into the room. Thankfully, the J'avos didn't follow us in. We walked further in where a lift was waiting for us at the end of the corridor. I placed Amara down as Piers hurriedly attended to her wound. I was on standby in case any J'avos decided to make any surprise entrances.

"Why the hell are you looking at me like that?" I heard Piers ask as I was back-facing them.

"I can ask you the same thing, Piers," Amara answered. "Didn't you hear me say 'I'll live'?"

"...So?"

"I'm not going to die, idiot. Hurry up and wrap my leg."

"Jeez."

Just then, we heard Ada's voice over the speakers talking to Simmons about the C-Virus and how it was over for him. She ended her announcement by thanking David Richards. Son of a bitch really had a part in this and all along I thought it had to be someone else. Once Amara was ready to go, we entered the lift. Ada was right there, waiting for us as the lift doors open. She locked the door behind her, so we had to go through the long route. Amara was slightly lagging behind us in terms of speed, but she helped a lot with her long-range shooting. We kept on chasing Ada, but every time it looked like we're about to catch her, she disappeared again.

"Dammit, she's toying with us!" Piers groaned.

We continued to go after her, eventually reaching the top of the carrier where she stood with her arms folded. She turned back with a malicious smile on her face and greeted us.

"Still haven't had enough, huh? Even after losing all your men — again?" she mocked. "With your track record I gotta say, I'd hate to be a member of your team, Chris."

I wanted to shoot her right in the head, but I controlled myself. I know you'll do the right thing, I heard Leon's voice in my head. Piers held me back just in case.

"Ada," Amara called out, her voice cold. "Enough of your bullshit. Both the past and the present. Give up your stupid act."

Ada laughed, ignoring whatever Amara had said. She turned back her attention to me, continuing, "But where are my manners? I mean, really, I should be thanking your men for being such good test subjects."

I couldn't stand her anymore. I shot her handgun right out of her hands and her expression changed. The three of us raised our guns and cornered her, but she didn't move an inch.

"Ever since Edonia, all I've ever wanted was to see you dead. But this isn't about vengeance, it's about justice. It's over, Ada."

"You're right, it is. The aircraft carrier is preparing for launch."

"Launch?" Piers repeated.

"And the dead will flood the streets. Déjà vu, Raccoon City revisited. But this time, it won't just be one city. It'll be the whole world!"

Suddenly, a chopper appeared, shooting Ada right through the chest. We didn't have time to react or shoot the chopper. I looked at Amara who had no idea who that was.

"No one can stop it now," Ada said her final words before falling back and dropping dead on the lower deck.

We rushed to see if she was really dead. Amara promptly turned away and Piers moved off. I took one final look at Ada before turning back. Piers had opened up the briefcase Ada had with her earlier, revealing a syringe. Two were missing.

"This looks like a different strain," Piers said, holding the syringe up for me to see.

Amara took it from him, examining it. "It's enhanced, that's for sure. There's no telling what this one will do."

"Keep it," I told her. "We'll bring it back to HQ for analysis. Or if we can force out an answer out of David Richards."

She nodded, keeping the syringe in her front pocket. I quickly informed HQ of the recent events. HQ got back to us, saying that they were informed that the helicopter from earlier belonged to David Richards, meaning that he was not on board. HQ also confirmed that Ada was telling the truth and that missiles were getting ready to be fired. I looked to Piers and Amara as I instructed them to get to the rear hangar.
