"We have two minutes and we are down by one. The whole stadium is packed and more importantly to you guys, the boys team is here watching us. Waiting for us to fail. Are we going to let that happen?"
There were a few mumbles heard from the girls as I tried to give my idea of a pep talk.
I've been the caption of Monri's Varsity soccer team since I was a sophomore and now that I'm a senior, I get respect.
Well, as much as worn out highschool girls can give respect.
"Are we ready to win?" I screamed, lifting my hand up.
There were shouts and cheers from the girls now. Bringing up the boys always seemed to change their attitudes. It's as if their worlds revolve around them.
My whole life I've had a dream of getting a scholarship to Florida to play soccer for them and a boyfriend was not in that picture.
"Let's go!"
We all went our separate ways, some staying on the bench and some going to the field.
I ran to my forward position, with two other girls who were juniors. We all grouped together, making a plan on what would be the fastest way to get to the goal.
Once we agreed, we got to our position and waited for the ref to blow the whistle.
"Are we ready ladies?" The old man asked, taking his time to get to the middle of the field.
We all smiled and nodded. Playing for eleven years helps you learn more about the game and the refs; the more you suck up to them, the better calls you get.
He set the ball in the middle and blew his whistle, telling us to go.
Marcie started off with the ball, passing it to Jordan. Jordan had the ball and took it up field, while I went and took over her right position.
She passed the ball over to me when we were close enough to the goal. Three girls that were much bigger than me all sprinted towards me in hopes to get the ball away.
Just as they made it to me, Marcie came in behind me from the front and got the ball, taking it to the left but dropping it in the middle to Jordan.
The other team all thought Marcie still had the ball and most went for her, our plan succeeding.
Jordan ran up with the ball and kicked her leg back, then hit the ball. It soared into the net, the goalie barley noticing since her eyes were still on Marcie.
The crowd cheered as the ball hit the net. All three of us ran to each other and highfived. We were tied now and we had less than one minute left in the game.
Marcie, Jordan and I came up with another short plan, then ran to our sweepers to tell them what we were going to do.
The ref blew his whistle once again and let us start. The other team had the ball and was taking it towards our goal.
My chest roared with life as it filled with a burning sensation but I pushed harder and ran after the girl. I finally caught up to her and swung my leg towards her, catching the ball.
I kicked the ball to one of our sweepers, Summer, and took off running up field. Marcie was already by the opposite goal, no one on her.
Summer kicked the ball as hard as she could to her and almost fell in the process. The ball landed at Marcie's feet as the other team scrambled to make it to her.
I caught up to her as a bigger girl was trying to get the ball away, she kicked it to me and I did the thing that made most sense.
I swung my leg back quickly and kicked the ball as hard as I could into the net.
The goalie jumped high into the air, the only problem was, the ball wasn't going high. It was going low. The ball hit the net, the stadium growing loud with cheering and screaming from our fans.
I smiled and waved, getting tackled by Jordan and Marcie. I laughed and pushed them off of me to stand, just to get greeted by the whole team.
"How does dinner sound?" I screamed to them as we all made our way to the locker rooms.
This was our fifteenth win so far and we were undefeated. The whole league was scared to play us, and to be honest with an offensive like ours, I would be too.
All the girls laughed in agreement as they shuffled into the locker room to get clean. I was walking into the room when a voice stopped me.
"We're invited too right Riley?" Even though I wasn't facing him I could hear the smirk in his voice.
Calum Hood.
"You're not invited. Neither are your friends." I turned around, pointing to his sidekicks.
There were ten boys on the guys soccer team all together. Sam, Logan, Clay, Ashton, Louis, Michael, Luke, Liam, and Tyler.
They weren't the problem though. The captain of the team was the problem. Calum.
"Aw babe come on, we just want to have some fun with you guys." He pouted, sticking his lip out.
Normally the other girls on the team would swoon over this little move and bow down to him. Not me. I didn't fall for his little games. I've never liked Calum and he's never liked me.
"By fun do you mean hook up with one of them and make another girl leave the team? I don't think so Hood. Go find some other fun." I responded with full confidence in my voice and turned around.
"I know someone that could use some." He mumbled as the other boys laughed.
I rolled my eyes and slammed the door shut.
aye so I'm actually liking this so far omg. I have a few chapters written for this and I'm excited! Vote and comment !!
