"See you later Riley." Piper and Maggie said, leaving from my locker to head to their classes.
They were lowerclass so I had no one to walk with to class. I normally had Marcie or Jordan but they both were office helpers today so I had no one but myself.
I grabbed my books and shut my locker, and walked down the hallway.
Girls soccer had the field today which was lucky for us because we could actually work on some plays we've been trying to nail for the championship.
Since we're number one in our league and don't have a 'stable' coach, we need everything we can get.
Even in school I'm thinking about soccer, it's honestly not very healthy.
I shook my head just as I ran into someone, dropping my books in the process.
"I'm sorry I wasn't really paying attention." I spit out quickly, trying to hide my embarrassment.
"Yeah yeah, I'm sorry too."
I knew the voice from anywhere. I grabbed my books and walked a little faster, but finding no use since Calum had already caught up to me and my next class was upstairs.
"You always try to run away from me Ri, but you seem to forget, I'm the captain of the soccer team. I can run a mile in six minutes let alone catch up to you speed walking." He chuckled, shaking his head.
"Don't call me Ri and what do you want Calum?" I mumbled trying to get away from him.
"I just wanted to see how my favorite soccer girl is doing that's all." He said, the smirk obvious in his voice.
I couldn't ignore the small butterfly's that erupted from my stomach as he said that. Even though I knew he was probably being sarcastic or something, I couldn't ignore it.
"Go away Calum, I have a class to get too and a soccer team to lead."
He laughed, throwing his head back but continued walking. "What's so funny?"
"You, you're funny. Soccer is the only thing you think about isn't it?" He asked, trying to get me to look at him.
He was failing.
I wasn't going to stoop down to other girls levels and let him control me. I have more important things to worry about.
"It's the most important thing to me in life. It's what I want to do today, tomorrow, and my whole life. When I die, I want to be buried with a soccer ball."
He laughed again, making me smile. He was annoying and was my enemy since the sixth grade when he was voted captain for the girls and boys team and I wasn't, but his laugh was contagious.
"I'm not going to judge you Springer, I'm the exact same way. Except for the fact I want to be in my soccer uniform."
I nodded and held my books closer to my chest. This was the first real conversation Calum and I had without us arguing over soccer terms or field conditions.
"This was nice yeah?" He asked, making me stop.
It was then that I realized we were at my classroom door.
"Oh uh yeah, see you at the field?" I asked, walking into the room, not bothering to wait for his response.
