Is it called jump roping or jumping rope?
Because technically the verb is jump and you're doing it over a rope, so jumping rope would literally translate to you're jumping over a rope.
But I'm just so inclined to say jump roping.
Screw the English language.
I was jump roping and I kinda whipped myself and it hurt like a bitch.
