January

Gavin is back in town and living with us at grandmas. He's been dating Julie since November and with my busy schedule, I have only met her a couple of times. I don't have class with Chris anymore so we don't really see each other or talk. Avery is doing very well in school and she's the happiest that she's ever been. Kyle is getting ready to go back to work and he's been with me when he's not helping his uncle. We haven't really gotten any calls and it sucks so badly. I've been so bored. My dad is still MIA and we haven't heard anything about him in a while and honestly I'm glad.

I dropped Avery off at school and then went up to the station. My newest best friend Greg was there helping Harry. "Hey! What are you doing here?" Harry yelled over to me. He was more shocked than anything to see me. "I figured, I'd come here and get some stuff done. What are you guys doing?" I asked walking over to them. "We're bringing the hose down from upstairs and now that you're here you can help." Greg smiled. "Yeah, I'm up for anything. My classes are all online right now anyway." "Great, we can get this done a lot faster now. I'll go up and let them down. You two can walk with them." Harry went upstairs. "Where have you been hiding lately? I haven't seen you around." Greg asked. "I've been home helping my Uncle and my brother, and ya know raising my sister. And ya know we haven't gotten any calls lately." "Sounds like fun." "Not really, they are all driving me crazy. All except my sister. Happy belated birthday by the way. When was it, Friday?" "Yeah, thanks. I'm 18 now, I can buy lottery tickets...yay." "I know, it sucks." I laughed at his non-existent enthusiasm.

We were done with everything that Harry wanted to do, so we were just sitting around. Harry went home. "Don't you have to go pick up your sister?" Greg asked looking at his phone. "Nope, now that my brother is home and going to school at the community college, he picks her up. She hates it, but it's a lot for me." "I see. So, you're free for a while then?" "Yeah, I guess. Why?" I asked curious as to why he asked. "Do you want to hang out for a while? We could go somewhere, we don't have to stay here." "Sure, why not?" I agreed and part of me thinks that I shouldn't have. "Where do you want to go?" "Get in my truck, we'll go tear up some roads or fields." "Okay, but if we're doing that we're going in my truck." He got up out of his seat and I got up too. "Fine." I wasn't going to argue.

I showed him where to go and what fields we could use. "How do you know what fields we can use?" he asked when we were parked for a while. "John and I used to come out here all the time and go mudding and stuff." "And stuff? What kind of stuff?" he asked with a grin. "Not that kind of stuff you idiot! We just used to talk and drink out here. This is a vacant farm land and his friends used to have parties out here and we'd go. He's go all the time, I used to some of the time." "Oh, sure, sure." "You don't believe me?" I laughed. "How long did you two date?" "Six months. He was the last boyfriend that I had. We broke up in August." "Did you even sleep with him?" "Yes! Enough about John and I. I don't particularly like to talk about it." "Okay, you dated Jet too didn't you?" "Yes, I dated Jet and John. I dated Jet before John." "Be honest with me on something." "What?" "Have you ever been with Kyle? Like at all?" he asked and I think that he was afraid too. "No, we have never been together in anyway. He's my best friend and that's it." "You guys could've fooled me." "That's what everyone says." I laughed.

"Why did you come up here?" I asked him. "Something to do." He was being a smart ass as always. "Seriously." "I got kicked out of school, my mom kicked me out and I came up here to be with my Dad." "He's happy that you're here. Everyone can see it." "Yeah, I never really got to see him that much because we lived so far away." "It's good that you're here now. What do you want to do here?" "Get my GED and then see where that goes." "Well, that's a start." "Yeah, I have to start somewhere. Your turn to drive." He changed the subject. "Your truck is standard. I can't drive standard." "Well I'm going to teach you, just not out in this field." "No, you're not teaching me anything!" "Um, yes I am. Just around the block." "No!" "Yes, come on. It's not that bad." "Fine, if it'll shut you up!" I gave up and tried to drive his truck. I stalled it like fives. He just laughed and started it back up again. "I seriously can't do this." I laughed when we got around the stupid block. "Hey, it was your first time. You didn't do that bad." "Sure! Next time we are bringing my truck!" "Next time huh?" he asked with a smile. "Yeah, maybe they'll be a next time. I'll think about it."

I got back home around like 5. "Hey, where have you been?" Gavin asked when I walked in the door. "The station." "Only the station?" "No, I went and hung out with one of the guys. It's nothing." "Oh, I'm guessing that you didn't go hang out with Kyle." "No, it was not Kyle. It was the new kid. I was showing him the ropes and getting to know him. I want to know who I'm going to be working with on a scene or who I'm going into a burning building with." "Yeah, I understand that. Grandma called like five minutes ago. She wanted to know what you wanted on your sub for dinner. So, call her back." He laughed and walked out the door. "Date with Julie?" I asked calling after him. "Yeah!" he yelled back and left. I looked at my phone and was about to call my Grandmother when I got a text.

"We have to hang out again loser!" -Greg

I laughed and smiled. What the hell is this guy's infatuation with me?
