Aednat and the Wolf

Chapter 13 Puca

Ulfy was sleeping quietly in the yard at the Roxbury house when she was confronted by a huge angry black wolf. She stood in her true form as Siofra, "Leman!"

"Traitor, succubus, I could tear you apart Siofra!"

"I'm sorry I hurt you."

"You tore my heart from me, and you betrayed the Overlord." Leman returned to his true form.

"I'm protecting an innocent young woman from a monstrous evil, why can't you see that."

"I loved you Siofra, I still do, return with me. The Overlord has promised me eternal life. I want to share that with you."

"I love you too, with all my heart," she reached out to him and he slapped her face, grabbing her arms and choking her. "Don't touch me liar!"

"Are you going to kill me?" she said defiantly looking into his eyes. He let her go still panting. She could see how badly he hurt and the rage that filled his soul.

"I want to, I want you to suffer and feel the pain you left me with." His hands shook, he felt shame for striking her in anger and was mortified for just thinking of wanting to hurt her.

"I hurt too my love, there will never be another man in my life. But I will fight you to the death to protect Aednat."

"Is one girl worth dieing for, we can have eternal life, a life together."

"At what cost does the Overlord take for his gift. The loss of your soul, your ability to love and be loved, to have children. He asks too much. Did you ever ask if he can deliver?"

"You're confusing me Siofra, I'm afraid to die." Siofra held him looking into his eyes and saw the fear.

"As am I my love, our life is just part of an eternal journey. It does not begin with birth nor end in death. Love also is eternal and I will not live without it."

"Because I have loved you I will let you go this time Siofra, only this one time. I hope you change your mind, the Overlord will take you back."

"I never was with that monster, it was all a lie to protect the girl?"

"Was our love a lie too?"

"That was real and if you can't feel that in your heart we are lost."

"When next we meet you will turn the girl over to me."

"I will not, if I die protecting her the loss will be yours. You will have turned away true love for an illusion, a charade masking as live. I pity you!"

"Is she worth it?"

"Yes, and I love her. I would rather die loving then live forever as an unfeeling shadow of myself."

"You're a fool Siofra," Leman turned into a black dragon then vanished. Siofra wept as old wounds in her heart reopened, then she transformed to a wolf and walked to the high school to meet those she loved.
