how do you tell someone you love them?
she knew she loved him since the first time she set eyes on him.
he was tall, taller than her even. he had that smile, the kind that captured people and reeled them in, like on a fishing line. he was kind to everyone, even if he didn't know them. he could start a conversation and keep it, even if there was nothing to talk about.
she stared at him from behind her locker door as he grabbed his girlfriend and kissed her on the cheek, and she died a little inside.
she rubbed her jeans and pulled her shirt down just a bit to cover her hips. she pushed on her glasses, carefully avoiding the dusty lenses, and pushed a stray strand of hair out of her eyes.
before it became obvious, she turned away and faced the inevitable conclusion that he would never know her.
