undone

she couldn't believe she had fallen for this.

she walked to her next class after lunch and he was nowhere to be seen; a group of guys and a couple girls crowded around her seat, yelling about something she probably didn't want to know about.

when she tried to politely push her way in, they only tightened their ranks and grew silent.

one of them spoke up as she tightened her hold on her stomach, her arms crossed, silently steeling herself not to come undone right there.

everything she had ever dreamed of was lost.

she just stood there until one of them spoke up.

"is this the girl tristan keeps bothering people about? wonder why," one of them cracked. the others started to die laughing as her face grew hot and her eyes glassy.

"she's that brainiac, right? miss perfect. probably never had a boy even lay eyes on her before," another one continued. a tear slipped down her cheek.

"shes a nobody. tristan would never like her," a short blonde girl said. the girl leaned over and kissed the first bothersome boy on the cheek. "just look at her."

that was the final straw for her. she walked to the front of the room and sat down in the seat closest to the door, hoping he would come through.

he never did.

their laughter died when the teacher walked through the door, but she still felt the stings of their remarks hours later.

she held in her emotions until the last bell and until she got in her car, a beautiful white jeep her dad had bought her for her 16th birthday.

that was when she became undone.

-

someone must have slipped something into his food or his sprite. tristan was sick.

the nurse said it was food poisoning, and they called his parents, who promptly took him to the hospital, wondering if he would be ok for sports practice tomorrow.

he was in agony.

he didn't even know her name yet, and he had already left her.

he tried to hold it in, but he just couldn't.

he slumped against the seat of the car, his sweatshirt ruffled, and became undone.
