~Alice's P.O.V~
"Alice, wake up, you're gonna be late for school!" My mom yelled from my room's door. "And it's your first day as a junior!" Excitement was laced in her voice. It's funny how she loves to remind every first day of a school year that I'm a year older and a step closer to college—something I'm not looking forward to yet.
"I'm up." I groaned so low that I barely heard myself. It's obvious that I'm not a morning person, and I don't get excited when it comes to getting up from my warm bed and getting ready for school. I simply don't like school. Then again, who does anyway?
After five minutes, I actually got up, did my morning routine, and put on a grey hoodie and black skinny jeans. I walked downstairs and found my parents and my older brother, Chris, eating breakfast.
"Good morning." I said with no hint of happiness in my voice.
Chris looked up from his Frosted Flakes bowl, and replied with a smug smile on his face, "Morning, Al. How are you doing on this fine morning?" He knew how much I hated the first day, because everything changes with it; bed time, food list, hanging out times, etc.
"Awful." I mumbled, taking a seat next to Chris. "I don't wanna go to school." I whined.
"Alice, don't act like seven year olds." Mom scolded me, placing a bowl of milk with chocolate cereals floating on it in front of me.
I sighed and took a spoonful of cereal. I've always liked leaving the milk until the end so it would taste like chocolate when I drink it once I'm done eating. We talked about what Chris and I wanted to do once we reach the school gates.
Mom looked at her watch and asked, smiling, "Alice, you wanna go with me, or would you rather ride with Chris?"
"I'll just go with Chris, it's okay." I shrug and glance at Chris to see him scowling. He's always wished that they would buy me a car—a crappy one so his would always be the talk of the school's guys—just so he could ride alone, turn the music volume up, and not hear my complains about how much it stinks in there. Sometimes I ride with him only because I feel like complaining. You have no idea how much I loved the feeling I get by seeing him huffing at my 'obnoxious ideas', as he puts it.
We said bye and I got in Chris' car. Chris and I were, like, the best buddies. We shared our secrets and talked about what's bothering us to each other. I've always felt safe around my big brother, he was one of those siblings that you wish you had. He supported me and gave me advises, and I was just so grateful he was my brother.
Once we were buckled in, he turned the radio on, and he let me search for a station with some good music to listen to—more like, I made him let me. We ended up stopping on a radio station playing a calm song. I wasn't a fan, but it was tolerable in the morning. And they were so soothing that I almost fell asleep during the short drive.
"Can't we drive back? I'm not ready for hell." I muttered, making Chris chuckle. He wasn't one to even think about ditching, while I would do just that—thinking about it, I mean.
This was gonna be a long day...

Chris and I walked in, talking about how horrible I'd look by the end of the day. He found this so funny. I had my schedule and my locker keys in one hand and my books in the other, my bag hanging from my shoulder. I heard whispering from some girls, whose lockers are next to mine, while I putting my books in my locker.
"Did you see that new guy?" A short blonde asked with enthusiasm.
"Yes, oh my God, he's so cute!" Another girl with red head exclaimed.
