It was an empty hospital room
Your heartbeat was the only noise
It was calm, peaceful
Like music
But chaos erupted when you were born
As it always does when you enter a room
They tried to save her
But your mother was long gone
You were the only one to know her precious heartbeat
And all you are is chaos
A loud shrill scream above the peace that we hold so close
Your pounding heart
That sounds nothing like hers
And your chaotic mind
Worse than anyone else's
Why did they save you that night instead?

A/N: This poem is just a bunch of insecurities I have with being adopted, though it may not feel that way. The last line; "Why did they save you that night instead?" is just me wondering why I was left without my parents by a nursing home. Every life is worth saving, and please don't ever think you weren't worth it or that if it were that type of situation, you weren't worth saving as opposed to someone else. Everyone in this world is worth something to someone
