We decided to take a little brake from our search and enjoy the rest of the holidays. Draco and I were growing even closer than before and the blond was starting to form a bond with my beautiful pet.

The snake was very happy with her new home. Every now and again she would disappear and we wouldn't be able to find her for a few days. I wasn't bothered, thought. Snake aren't very social beings, especially her type and none of them liked human company much. She probably found another snake somewhere in the school or forest.

Friendships seemed to sail smoothly. Harry and Draco were growing closer and Ron and Draco stopped trying to kill each other every second minute.

All in all, Christmas seemed like it would be an enjoyable experience.

I woke on said morning with the smell of cinnamon strong in the air. Draco was snuggled close to me. When I shifted, the movement seemed to wake him as he sleepily blinked at me.

"Mmh, smells like Christmas," he said sleepily.

I silently agreed as I tried to follow my nose as to locate the source of the aroma. It proved to come from the heap of presents next to the little tree in our room, put there for the Christmas season.

"Presents!" exclaimed Draco as he followed my gaze to the colourful pile.

He scrambled out of bed, climbing over me and rushing to see which belonged to him. Honestly, anyone would have thought it was his first Christmas. I wasn't far behind, thought.

We started to tear open each one on our own. Draco was relieved, but a little disgusted, to find his parents sent him something. I had to check it for curses before he agreed to touch it.

Personally, I was surprised to see so many of the gifts belonging to me. The Malfoys also sent me a gift. The one that surprised me most was the one from the Weasleys, which proved to be the source of the smell that greeted me that morning. Underneath the emerald green jumper I found a box filled with cinnamon rolls and chocolates. Ron must have really changed his opinion on me. That or those two identical redheads that have been following me around lately, have been telling their mum about it.

Another surprise was the book on parseltongue magic from Professor Dumbledore. Professor Snape dropped of a book on advanced potion making with a note saying that it will be useful later.

When we were finished Draco rushed out if the room, leaving his presents and paper there. I think I heard him call something in the line of, "can't believe... forgot," before he charged out of the door.

I decided not to dwell on it. Instead I went over to my trunk to get Draco's gift that was still hidden inside.

He came back with a little box too. I guess he wanted to give me his present last, like I wanted to do with mine.

"Merry Christmas, Snake," he said handing over the emerald and silver coloured box.

"Merry Christmas, Dragon," I answered as I handed him the black and gold box in my hands.

We teared it open at the same time. The gifts fell out if the boxes and landed on the floor between our feet. I stared at the little stuffed dragon and snake laying between us.

"Great minds think alike," shrugged Draco with a smile.

"Yeah," I agreed as I bent to pick up the dragon. "Thanks, this is so cute," I said kissing him on the cheek.

"Now we both got snakes," he said.

"Except, mine is alive," I laughed.

"Yeah, so I have a plushie snake, you've got a plushie dragon. Hey, do you think I might get a real dragon to balance the scale?"

"No way, Dray!" I stopped. The way I knew him, he would probably try and get a real dragon.

He laughed and grabbed my arm. He dragged me down the stairs with him and out the common room. We reached the great hall just as Harry and Ron entered.

"Merry Christmas," the two of them chorused.

"Merry Christmas," Draco and I replied respectively.

"You got the jumper too then," stated Ron when he saw that I was wearing the emerald coloured piece of clothing.

"Jip, I didn't think you liked me enough to go and write your mum about me, but hey. I guess it's impossible not to like me," I shrugged with a smile.

"You wish. I'll never tell my mum about you."

"His mum gave me one too," Harry tried to add before we started a fight, again.

"Yeah, but you're his friend, for some reason unbeknownst to the intelligent between us," said Draco.

"I bet it was the twins," I said. "By the way, have any of you seen them this morning?"

"Here they come. Quick, hide me!" exclaimed Draco.

Draco had a fearful look on his face. It was quite funny. The twins have decided not to make me a victim to any of their pranks, but the same could not be said for Draco. He was very proud of his hair, but had to hide it for two weeks after the twins made it orange. The blond looked horrible in orange.

"I see that-"

"-Mum got our letter," they said.

"I knew it! Why have you switch jumpers?" I asked.

"To see who noticed," said Fred.

"Why did you write to your mum about me?"

"To see if she'd notice," answered George.

"That makes no sense," said Draco.

"That's just their way of saying that one of them had their first crush. So which one is it?" I asked.

"Kiss, kiss. Hiss, hiss," answered Fred.

"So it's George," I stated.

"Wow," said Ron. "I did not see this coming."

"You don't see anything coming," answered Fred.

"To right, handsome brother of mine," laughed George.

With that Draco turned around and walked over to the only table with food on it.

"What's up with him?" asked Harry.

"Jealous," laughed Ron.

"Nope, he's going to get coffee before it gets cold. I think that's a wonderful idea and will now join him," I stated dramatically and swung around to join my friend at the table.

I took my seat opposite the blond and soon the twins settled on either side of me.
