"What?!" was all I could say

My mate has sex with me, rejects me and is now pregnant. I of course take he back. I still slightly love her but I'm mostly doing this for the baby.

It's been 3 months since we found out. Now we're getting close to the due date and Ava is huge.

"Alex the baby is coming!" Ava yelled.

I picked her up and drove her to the hospital as fast as I could.

(3 hours later)

"Congratulations mr. Dean you had twin boys. But we couldn't save Ava. She died giving birth, I'm sorry." the doctor said.

I stood there not breathing for a good 10 mins. what did he mean she didn't make it. my sons can't live without a mother. I just stood there and cried but stooped when the nurse handed me two boys.

One had dark brown hair and blue eyes. the other had light brown hair and brown eyes. They both had my skin color and Ava's bone structure.

I named the one with blue eyes Bryce Sean Dean. The one with brown eyes is Jackson Luke Dean.

I scooped them up and put them In their car seat. Bryce is a bit bigger than Jackson and looks more like his mother. When we get to the house Andrew and Andrea run out and look at how cute the babies are. Then they ask where is Ava. I tell them what happened and the hug me and apologize.

When I get to the baby room I put the boys in their cribs and make a promise to them.

"I will be the best dad for you guys that's a promise."
