Ana

I picked up my phone to see that I had an email message.

To: Anastasia Grey

From: Christian Grey

Time: 6:48 a.m.

Subject: Work

Sawyer will be taking you to work. He will meet you in the lobby at 8:45 am.

Christian Grey

I groaned as I thought out a response; part of me wanted to ignore the email, and unfortunately, the other part of me was annoyed, and hurt and wanted to hurt him just as he hurt me. After starting and deleting a response at least a hundred times, I finally replied short and to the point while letting him know I was pissed.

To: Christian Grey

From: Anastasia Grey

Time: 7:04 a.m.

Subject: Re: Sick Day

I am not feeling well. I was rudely awakened early this morning to a nightmare and unfortunately was unable to fall back to sleep. A woman in my condition needs rest. Therefore I will not be at work today.

Anastasia Grey

The weasel never did respond to my message. After I realized he was going to give me the silent treatment I groaned and threw my phone back on the bed and headed into the bathroom deciding that I needed a hot bath. I relaxed in the sunken tub and when I began to shrivel up, I decided to get out and try to work a little. I logged into my computer and began responding to various emails. I quickly realized I was unable to focus on work and mind kept drifting to what I was going to do. I needed support and decided to tell my father about the baby. Maybe he could give me some advice on how to smooth things over with Christian. My father was a good listener and I needed someone to wrap their arms around me and tell me everything was going to be alright. I was not going to get that from Christian and honestly I was unsure if he would come around to the idea of a child.

My father was always up early and he seemed genuinely surprised I was calling this early. He picked up right away, "Hi Annie, what's wrong?" "Hi dad. Would you want to meet me for breakfast?" My dad was silent before he mumbled "Sure Annie." I was usually not a morning person or a big breakfast person. I know the request caught my father off guard. "I am staying at the Olympian, do you want to pick me up?" After a brief silence he finally muttered "Annie, why are you at a hotel?" I was trying to hold my tears at bay, "We'll talk when you get here dad." I did not want to begin crying, since he was an hour a way I had time to gather my thoughts and decide how I was going to break the news.

I know my dad thought we rushed into marriage. I think he understood because he knew bits and pieces of Christian's rough childhood. Unbeknownst to me, when things got serious and Christian asked my dad for my hand, Ray ran a thorough background check on Christian and his birth mother. He even was able to get a DNA sample frp, Christian and had one of his FBI buddies run it through an exclusive database to see if they could find information on his parents or family that way. I overheard Ray speaking with his buddy one time although Ray never shared any results with me. Ray knew his mother had listed unknown on the father portion of Christian's birth certificate but based on interviews his team had conducted they had a short list of potentials. I have no idea if Ray ever identified Christian's father or not.

After getting ready and rehearsing how I was going to break the last 24 hours to my father, I made my way down to the lobby to wait. Taylor was sitting in the corner of the lobby cafe watching my every move, I pretended not to notice him as I nervously fidgeted. When my father's car pulled in the circular drive, I hurried to his car and we sped away before Taylor had realized where I went.
