LillianAfter a very tense brunch and a relieving conversation with Harold, I came back to my apartment. When I entered, Dory was in the kitchen reading the newspaper while eating some eggs and toast.
"Morning girlie!" Dory says waving at me.
"It's past noon Dory." I said laughing while taking of my shoes and coat.
"Oh well." She replies back and continued to eat.
My mouth was a bit dry so I decided to go into the kitchen to get a glass of water. My hand grabs the knob to the cabinet and I grabbed a glass. My sink faucet creaked a little when I turn it on. My glass gets filled to the brim and I bring the glass to my lips. I turn around and I rest my back against the counter as I continued to drink my water. My head races at the the conversation I had with Harold. Why did I make myself so upset over nothing? Really, I barely even know this guy and I get all upset because I assumed he was with someone. Then that someone turned out to be his sister.
He really is a kind man, he seems to really care about his sister. Which I think is the sweetest thing every. He also reminds me of Dory with just the way she thinks and lives. But also how she talks to me and convinced me that doing what I want to do is not a bad thing. That, is what makes me smile.
"What are you smiling about over there?" Dory says carrying her plate to the sink.
"Nothing." I answer.
"No one on this planet smiles like that because of nothing. Spill the beans girlie." She says pointing at me.
"You know that man I was talking to last night?"
"The hottie in the suit, yes." Dory says nodding while rinsing off her plate.
"Well he was at the same restaurant I was at and we talked for a few minutes. I think he is coming back to the club tonight." I say as Dory smiles while shaking her head.
"I told you he was flirting with you." Dory says while bumping her hip against mine.
"Yes, I know you told me." I tell her, "But that doesn't automatically mean he is interested in me you know."
"Oh please, the way he grabbed your hand as you were walking away. As well as how close you were standing." She points out. Not knowing what to say I shrug my shoulders and walk into the living room.
"What happened when you two talked at the restaurant?" Dory says as I sit down on the couch with her joining me.
"Well, he came in with this parents and this girl." I begin saying and Dory interrupts, "A girl?!"
"Don't worry I had the same thought as you. It was his sister, however I didn't know that at the time. Seeing her with a girl made me a little upset so I went to the ladies room to calm myself down. Once I walked out of the ladies room I ran into him. When I saw him I was still upset so I tried to brush past him but then he stopped me. He asked if I was there with anyone and I told him I was with my parents. He then proceeded to tell me he was also with his parents along with his sister." I explained and Dory nodded her head along to the story.
"After that we just had a normal conversation and he asked me if I was going to be at the club tonight. When I told him I would he said he'd see me later on tonight. That's pretty much it."
