It's been six years since the time we went to the crank pits and it was mostly out of my memory. Mostly. There were still times when I'd wake up from a nightmare and Newt would have to calm me down like the best friend he is.
Minho had been talking more and more about escaping this place since our meetings began again, and I never actually thought he'd try it. Until today.
"You know why you're here?" Leavitt asked me and I shook my head. He, Ramirez and Randall were all standing behind me. I'd never met Ramirez before, but I'm sure he was chief of security or something like that. I was staring at a monitor with Minho sitting in a chair, strapped to it. He sat in a blank room with only one other thing, a small pod in the corner.
"No." I stated bluntly. Honestly, I was annoyed at the fact that I was here.
"You see, your friend here, had tried to escape. But luckily, we caught him before any damage was done. We need to teach him that we are trying to help you kids and that his actions were unjustified. You should all be grateful that you live in a place like WICKED. You're safe here, from the cranks and the sun flares. Everything. He has seemed to forgotten that. And I need to remind him, and you. As well as your other friends. They will all be watching this."
"Watching what?" I asked.
"This." I watched the screen as the pod began to open. Minho was in there with that thing! This couldn't be happening!
"What the hell is that!" I asked frantically, panicking. A huge, slug like creature emerged from the pod and slowly moved towards Minho, it's metal, spidery legs pushing it along. It had metal spikes in its body, and it looked like a giant spider. I hate spiders. I looked back at Minho, seeing a look of pure terror on his face and he was screaming, but I couldn't hear it. The creature inches closer to him and the spiked retracted into its body. Now, weapons emerged. Tons of them; small knives, blades, saws, claws, all inching closer to Minho's head.
"Stop!" I said loudly, standing up from the chair. "You guys can't do that! I know you need as many immunes as possible! Minho is too valuable for you to kill him now! Randall," I pleaded. "Hear me out! You need him! He's my friend, okay? I know he'll listen to me if you let me talk to him! You guys don't have to do this. I'll talk him out of his crazy ideas! He'll listen to me!" Randall seemed to consider my words, and then he pressed a button on the device he held in his hand.
"Stop." And the creature did. Of course it did, this was WICKED. They could control whatever they wanted. Relief flooded through me as the creature moved back to its pod and climbed in, the door to the pod closing behind it. I turned back to the three men behind me and stood staring them.
"Let's get you back to the rooms." Leavitt said, and I stormed out of the room and down the hallway. I ran back to the rooms and practically slammed the door open. Newt and Alby were pacing around by their beds when I came in. I ran to Newt and he pulled me into him, his arms wrapped around my waist.
"What happened?" He whispered softly.
"It's Minho. He got caught trying to leave and I just... I can't... he..." It was all I had to say, the words wouldn't come. It took everything I had not to break down in tears, but none of these boys had ever seen me cry and this wouldn't be the first time. I wouldn't let this be the first time.
"Shhh, it's okay. You don't have to tell us." Newt cooed to me. With the past few years, we'd only grown closer. "Do you just want to go to bed?"
"Yeah." I nodded and sat down on my bed, pulling the covers over me. But I couldn't sleep, it wouldn't happen. I got up and walked out of the room before anyone could ask where I was going. I went to the only place I wanted to go. Teresa's room. We'd also grown closer, being the only girls at the secret meeting.
I knocked on her door and she opened it almost immediately, like she'd been waiting for me.
"Hey Clarke, what's up?" She asked.
"Can't sleep. I just had to come see someone other than the boys. What about you?" I replied.
"Me either. You saw Minho today?" I nodded and she grabbed my hand, pulling me into her room. "Do you want to stay? We can have like, a sleepover or something?" I nodded frantically and she pulled some blankets out from under her bed. I had no idea what to do so she and I just sat there awkwardly while I made a bed on the ground.
"Do you wanna play the favorites game?" She asked. I nodded and asked the first question.
"Color?"
"Blue," She said.
"Green." I smiled at her. We played for a while longer, both learning more and more about each other and then we got tired and went to bed.

"Clarke!" Teresa hissed, making me groan and roll over. "Clarke I need to tell you something. Get up." I sat up and ran a hand through my long blonde hair. It was so tangled.
"What?" I snapped, I'm not a morning person.
"I didn't know how to tell you and I didn't know if I should-"
"What?" I said again, louder this time.
"You're going in the Maze. First." My heart shattered into a million pieces. I'd known for months about WICKED and the Maze they were building. But I didn't think they'd make me go first.
"When?" I mumbled loud enough for her to hear, I stared into space and she put a hand on my shoulder. "Teresa when?!" I stated loudly. A knock sounded at the door and I jumped up. Dr. Paige came in and smiled at us. Actually smiled.
"Hello girls. I'm just here to get Teresa for work. Clarke, you can go back to your own room." I nodded but on my way out, I glared at her.
"When does it happen?" I asked coldly. She stared at Teresa harshly and then looked back at me.
"I told Teresa the Maze would be done in two days. So maybe, a week. At the most. That's when the first subject will be entered." She responded. I rolled my eyes and went back to the room.

"Where the bloody hell were you?" Newt said when I sat on my bed.
"I was with Teresa," I said, staring into space. "No big deal."
"Yes big deal. You didn't tell us where you were going. I didn't know if you got hurt or anything like that."
"Newt I'm fine. Just leave it." I said quietly and he looked at Alby, his mouth hanging open. Alby just shrugged and I laid down, my arms wrapped around myself protectively. I felt a hand on my shoulder and brushed it off.
"What's wrong love?" Newt asked.
"I-I don't know. You know about the Maze right?" I asked him and heard him mumble in confirmation. "I- uh... I'm... I'm going in first." I said, my voice breaking. He sat down beside me.
"What?"
"The Maze, Newt. A month, you go in. A week, I go in. We don't deserve this, it's not fair." His arms wrapped around me and his hand ran through my hair.
"Okay. It's okay, you're okay." He cooed and I trembled in his arms. I heard Minho and Alby behind us.
"Okay. We already knew that. And you'll be watching us right? You can look after us?" Minho said and I shook my head. Did he not hear anything I said earlier?!
"Ima into." I mumbled and Newt could barely make out what I meant.
"What?"
"She said she's going in too." Newt confirmed and I nodded slowly, my head resting on his chest.
"I have to go alone. Without you guys, in one week. I can't do it Newt. I won't survive on my own. One week, and I leave. I can't do it." I said quietly. "Yes you can love. You're stronger than you think. It'll be okay. We can talk to Thomas, he can stop this. He works with them too. He's your brother." He said, but I wasn't listening anymore, I just pulled away from him and fell asleep in my bed as he pulled the covers over me. This is gonna suck.
