After we talked about all the important stuff, of what had happened to us in the past two weeks, in particular Tony and the email of unicef, it was past midnight and we almost fell asleep.
The Garlands' guest room almost felt like my own room because i slept over here so often. Most of the time Maja and I stayed up so late, that we both fell asleep in either her room, the living room or 'my' guest room.
When i was finally in my bed i only took off my golden dove necklace, turned off the light and fell asleep immediately.
On the next morning i was woken up by the sun, that shone bright and fell through the two big windows into the room. It was circa 10 AM, a normal time for me to wake up at the weekends on the days i had nothing planned. I stood up, opened the big windows and sat down for 10 minutes and just enjoyed the sight and the fresh morning air.
It was the end of march, so it wasn't really hot but neither was it cold and slowly the spring showed his colors.
I closed the windows after ten minutes and went over into Majas room, who probably was still asleep. She is one of these persons who doesn't bother the light and sleep on, so often I had to wake her up. But when I entered her room she was wide awake in her bed and was smiling at her phone.
'Wow, your awake already?' i asked with disbelieve. 'Yes actually I am for a while now. I received a message earlier and couldn't sleep again after it.' she answered while i walked over to her windows, which showed the same sight like mine just a litte bit shifted, and opened it.
'Well, that explains your behavior.' i smiled at her and sat down at the end of her bed with crossed legs. 'Did you plan anything for the breakfast?' i asked and looked around in her room. Nothing much had changed since i was here the last time. Maja was a relatively tidy human being, the only mess you could find in her room, was her stool where some clothes laid on or her desk on which were her school papers.
When i noticed that she didn't react to my question i shook her leg and looked at her with raised eyebrows. 'Huh?' she said and slowly looked up from her phone at me, with the same dumbly smile. 'I asked if you had anything planned for the breakfast.' i repeated .
'Oh, well, i thought that we could to everything without any stress today and after the breakfast we plan what we have to do and to get for this evening.'
'Ok sounds good, but could you please put away your phone for now? I mean, you'll see Tony again in a few hours anyway.' i said pleasingly and she looked at me with shock. 'But i didn't say that the message was from Tony, or did I?'. 'No, you did not. I guess i just know you too well.' i laughed and stood up from her bed to close her window. 'And now get up because if you want everything to be chill today, we have to begin slowly.' I said in a motherly tone while exiting her room to wash my face in the bathroom.
The breakfast consisted of the left over scrambled eggs and bacon from Majas parents who already left the house and would be back in the noon.
After we finished eating and cleaned the kitchen Maja got a pen and a notebook to write us a list of what we had to buy.
'Do we have snacks?' i asked and sat on the chair in a kind of crossed legged way and put my face into my hands. 'I think we still have some bags of chips, but we should buy crackers.'.
'Crackers? Since when do we eat crackers?' i asked amused. 'I don't know but i am not sure if the chips will be sufficient.'. 'I don't think that we will empty them and if so, we should buy popcorn instead of cracker.' i suggested. 'Ok, just write down both and we will decide when we are in the supermarket.' Maja said and i did as i was told.
'What about drinks?' i continued to ask. 'And do we buy alcohol? I would say yes but not the hard liquor.'. 'Yes just thinks like Bellini, sparkling wine and beer.' Maja agreed.
Bellini was one of our favorite drinks, when it came to alcoholic drinks. We discovered it together and since then never not bought it.
'Ok, should we decorate the cabin?' Maja asked and looked on the paper in front of us.
The small cabin in the back of the Garlands garden was perfect for a gettogether with friends or even a small party. It seemed like a small barn because of the dark wood cladding and the small hayloft, in which Maja placed some mattresses so that one could sleep there. The heart of the cabin were three creme-colored couches which stand in a circle in front of a small round table, and were placed on dark red carpets. behind the couches, there was a counter in which one could store food and drinks. And on the right side there was a stereo, so it was perfect for Partys. A few years ago Maja and I hung up some light strings on the walls what sounds a bit corny but actually spreads a cozy mood.
'Hmm, maybe we could just rearrange the light strings a bit or buy some new and hang them onto the ceiling, i think that would spread a more romantic mood.' I said and looked at her with a meaningful look, whereupon she just blushed but nodded, because she knew I was hinting about her and Tony.
When we were finished, writing the list, it was already 1 PM. We just threw on some comfy clothes and got on the way into the city. We would get dressed for the gettogether later when the cabin was ready.
On the way to Walmart, i noticed that i knew nothing about the guests except Tony. 'How many and who actually comes this evening?' i asked while we turned right onto a small staircase which was surrounded by trees and led us directly into the city.
'Well, you already know that Tony comes,' she began and i just nodded. ' And then there is Adrien, Joanna, Thomas, Will, Mathew and Lia.'
'Ok then we're nine at a total. Are we sure that the drinks will suffice?' I asked skeptically. 'Of course. And if not, we just drive with one of the boys into the city and get more.'
I was excited to meet her friends later. Even though i was the outsider because i knew nobody and they all see each other everyday in school. But i was looking forward to it.
We finished our purchase, got back home and it was 3 o' clock. So there were three hours left until Majas friends would arrive.
We carried the bags into the cabin, placed the food in the small fridge or onto the small table, hung up to more light strings and even got some blankets, so for the case that anyone would want to sleep over here, they could. Actually we could all sleep over here, because two of the three couches were extendable.
When we were done, we took a look back into the cabin and i said:'Well, if nothing will happen between you and Tony tonight in here, we did something wrong.', whereupon Maja just looked at me with shock. 'You can't say something like this tonight, when he will be here!', she warned me with big fearful eyes.'
'No worries, i won't disgrace you completely.' i said and patted her shoulder but she just looked at me with a gaze that said 'Do not mess with me. I know you will.'. Well, for what then are best friends for?
