Nightmare on Elm Street is based on a true event.
There was a little boy who died in his sleep. He complained to his parents about a man who tried to kill him. They overlooked it and didn't realize how serious it was. The boy would stay up for days, avoiding sleep.
When his parents found him dead on his bed, they discovered three slashes on the boy's stomach.
