To: Ashton
I am at the table in the back left corner. No need to rush.
I sigh, thinking about what I am going to get. In the back of my mind, I know full well what I will end up getting, but I still contemplate on trying something new. I look through my phone, seeing texts from Diana and Sierra. I tell Misty I am okay, and I would give her ‘details’ later. I text Diana saying I was upset and I would talk to her later.
“Hey, Trinity.” I look up with a welcoming smile to see the boy with the thick accent. He wears a sweater and black skinny jeans with his hair in a bandana. One thing that catches my attention if his glasses. He sits down across from me. “How are ya, today?”
I smile. “Anything is better than yesterday,” I say. “How about you?”
“I’m good, thanks.” He checks his phone quickly, before looking back at me. “Have you ordered yet?” I shake my head. “You didn’t have to wait.”
I shrug. “I wasn’t sure what I wanted anyway.”
He smiles. “Would you like to?”
I nod. "Yeah, sure," I exhale.
He nods, and I follow him over to the line. "What are you planning on getting?" I ask to make conversation.
He looks over the menu, straining his eyes. "I'm not sure, what about you?"
"I'm just getting the double chocolate chip frapachino."
"I've never had that," he admits. "I think I'll try it." He looks away from the board behind the barista and smiles down at me.
“I didn’t know you wore glasses,” I blurt.
“There is a lot you don’t know.” He smiles brightly, and his dimples appear on his cheeks. “That’s why we’re here, though, to get to know each other.”
“I guess so,” I laugh nervously. An awkward silence falls, and my eyes dart around in search of something to talk about with a person I have never had an actual conversation with.
"So, tell me about yourself," he states suddenly.
I shrug. "What is there to tell?" I ask, knowing there is so much I could say.
"I don't know, uh, what's your favorite color?"
I giggle. "I don't know, I like them all. Maybe yellow?"
He laughs lightly. "Are you sure?"
I shrug, and the lady at the counter calls out, "Next in line, please."
I look at him, but he motions for me to go first. "Ladies first." I blush slightly, thanking him as I scoot in front of him.
“What can I get for you?” she asks. I tell the young woman, that looks a lot like my mother might I add, my order. “Name please?”
“Trin,” I say, not wanting to make her write out Trinity.
“Pretty, is it short for anything?” she asks, scribbling it down on the plastic cup.
I nod. “It’s short for Trinity,” I explain.
“That is a beautiful name,” she compliments. She looks over my shoulder at Ashton. “You ordering separately?”
He shakes his head, to my surprise. “No, I’ll have the same as her,” he states, pulling out his wallet.
“Ashton, I can handle it,” I push, digging into my purse.
