Wolves- Selena Gomez and Marshmellow
Brad finishes up the last touches of my make up as slow music begins. "That's our que." Gina says and I nod. I stand up as Brad begins to walk away. He looked as if he doesn't get many Thank you's or any appreciations even though he deserved it. He was a very good makeup artist, I don't know why he just sticks around here and does ours. And he's so nice. He tells jokes, he's an amazing guy. I don't know how he's single or how he can deal with us bossing him around. He deserves so much more.
"Thank you, Brad." I say. "You have a real talent with this stuff." He smiles at me and I smile back.
"Thank you. If you need anything else just ask." He says and I nod.
"Okay."
"Come on, Sel." Gina says. "You don't want to be late on your first dance." I nod.
"Right." I mutter. I really hope Wesley is nowhere near the stage. My phone vibrates in my pocket and I take a quick glance at it as I follow Gina. It was Max.
Where are you? His message read. Should I give him a hint? Or should I be creepy? I should be creepy. Definitely creepy. Creepy all the way. I peek out from behind the wall and I look out over the stage until I spot Max standing next to Wesley and they both looked around for me. I hold my phone up and take a picture of them before leaning back behind the wall and sending it.
Closer than you realize. I send and I smile triumphantly before sliding my phone into my bra. I didn't want it in my back pocket. I feel like it wouldn't be safe. James comes up next to Gina and I and holds out his hand.
"You ready to dance?" He asks and I look to Gina as if for approval. She slightly nods before looking away and pretending not to be paying attention.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I say. "Selene taught me all the moves, I just don't want to mess up." He grabs my hand from my side and holds it in his.
"You can't think about that." He says. "Just let the music take you. Don't focus on being perfect. Don't focus on messing up. Focus on the music. Let it run through your body. Let it move you." The music gets louder and I let out a shaky breath.
"Come on, lets go." Gina says and she walks out as James gives me a smile and leads me out with him. For some reason, he didn't let go of my hand. He took me to the front of the stage and I narrow my eyes confused looking back to see Blair glaring at me. If looks could kill.
"James, I'm suppose to be-"
"I know it's you, Selene." James whispers and I freeze. I start to step back but he grabs my other hand and he brings them up, putting them around his neck.
"James-"
"It's okay." He says shaking his head. "I won't tell the others if that's what you really want."
"I'm-"
"Shh." He says grabbing my waist, and pulling me closer to him. His hands on my skin felt so warm. It's been so long, it almost felt foreign.
"But-"
"We're about to start." He says. I look around again to see the dancers in their positions. Gina catches my eye and gives me a thumbs up before focusing on her position again. I look up into his eyes.
"James-" I try again as the music to Wolves by Selena Gomez and Marshmello begins. He winks at me.
"Just dance." He starts slowly tracing my skin with his hand up to my neck and then around my face making me shiver.
