“Glad for you to have finally joined us, Prince Faelern.” A deep gravelly voice called out to us. I followed Darius into the room, and found that Asherah and Rafael were already there.

The room was dark, but lit up by red light bulbs. My eyes strained to see as clearly as the vampires and fairies could. The one who spoke to us was sitting on a large chair, that was decorated with black and gold. Rafael stood next to the mysterious man, and I could see how similar they both were. The only difference between the two was their skin color. Rafael was a golden color and the man was oddly pale.

We stopped in front of the chair he sat on. Darius spoke, “we had a run in with one of your pets. I would have been here on time, if they weren’t trying to make a lunch out of this human.”

That seemed to make the man pause for a second. His bright red eyes swept over to me, and he stared at me with open curiosity. “And who is this human exactly?”

“Noelani Jones. She is a human that your vampire friends have constantly been trying to get ahold of. I demand to know why.”

The man laughed at what Darius said, real amusement sparkling in his eyes. “You demand me? On my own territory?”

Darius growled a warning at him, sounding very animalistic to me. I didn’t know who I feared more, the vampire king or Darius.

“I’d demand you, no matter what territory we are on. You have already violated the treaty on more than one account, Vladimir.” Darius snarled, furious.

The vampire, named Vladimir, sobered up, staring at Darius with threatening red eyes. “A mere child has the audacity to accuse me of such things? Where’s your proof? You are violating the treaty with just these accusations alone.”

Darius stood up straight. “I don’t need proof when I have this living human as a witness, and another fairy who has also witnessed one attack just this morning.”

Vladimir contemplated what Darius had just said. Then he smiled lazily, his hand gesturing in the air as he spoke. “You yourself have requested to come onto my territory, and you yourself has threatened me. Your life has not been in danger here. She is but a mere mortal who was in the mortal realm. How am I to control the vampires that wander off there?”

Darius’s whole body stiffened up. Vladimir had him there and he knew it. Darius was not able to accuse Vladimir any longer. “But still, what do you want with the girl?”

“I am not involved in such petty things like the kidnapping of a simple human. Please, have some respect.” Vladimir scoffed, a small smile playing on his pale red stained lips. “Although she does smell quite yummy.”

Darius was vibrating in anger, and had been this entire meeting. We were getting nowhere here, and he really needed some answers about me. Despite my not wanting to be here, I was beginning to get curious about my past as well. Who were my parents? Why did they give me up, and most importantly, why are vampires wanting to take my life away?

Vladimir dismissed us with a wave of his hand. Darius spun on his shoe, and stalked away, me, Rafael and Asherah were right on his heels.

Once we were outside of the room, Rafael walked next to Darius with a determined look on his face. “He’s hiding something. I know my father very well.”

Darius didn’t even pause in his steps, but he glanced at Rafael and said, “I know.”

Later on that day, Asherah and I were sitting on the couch inside of Rafael’s room, eating popcorn and watching movies while Rafael and Darius talked to each other on the other side of the room.

Currently, we were watching Pocahontas, a classic. Asherah had expressed to me that she had never seen it, and had never even knew what a “Pocahontas” was. I had stared at her in shock before popping it in, and letting her immerse herself into the movie.

“You know, I have never meant someone with a name like yours before.” Asherah said suddenly. I looked at her and saw that she was also looking at me. That was surprising considering she’s a fairy, and I am sure that she has heard many strange names before.

“It means Heavenly Mist in Hawaiian. It was stitched on the front of the blanket that my mother found me in when I was a baby.” I answered. I had never really talked to anyone about me being found on her doorstep before, but I found that it was easy to talk to Asherah. Almost as easy as breathing if you asked me.

“That sounds wonderful. What is Hawaiian?” Asherah asked me, her eyebrows knitted together in pure confusion. I almost forgot she was a fairy. Her long blonde hair was almost always worn down, and it tended to cover up her pointy ears.

“Hawaiian is the language spoken by the people who preside in Hawaii. Do you know what Hawaii is?”

She nodded her head yes. “We were taught a few things about other worlds in school. I remember that it is an island that used to not be there. It is filled with wild horses and warm weather with beautiful ocean expanses. I’ve always wanted to visit it.”
A sad look passed over her face, and my heart ached for her. She would never be able to see my world like I was able to see it. She explained to me that it is forbidden for lesser fairies to step foot into another world. She was not so much below Darius, but she was not exactly royal either. My heart went out to her. She was a person of adventure, always wanting to explore the unknown and have fun while doing it.

“So, why did Vladimir call Darius Faelern earlier today?” I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

“Oh, because that is his real name. Faelern Darius Mysten.”

“Mysten?” I asked. That didn’t sound like a very normal last name.

“His family was named after this world, since they basically founded all of it. Mysten is just Mystentia but shortened.” She explained to me patiently. “As fairies, we are taught this at a very young age.”
A mini mind explosion was going off in my head. That sounded so awesome to me, and my mind was blown because of it. This whole situation had my mind blown to bits.

I yawned, feeling bone tired. I don’t remember ever feeling this tired before coming here. It seemed like I was always sleeping in this realm.

“Oh no.” Asherah mumbled at me, putting her hand on my forehead as my eyes fought with me to close.

“What’s wrong?” I yawned out in a non very attractive way.

“Your body is not yet used to this world like I thought it would be. This world is draining your energy from you.”

“What the heck does that mean?” I asked snarkily, suddenly in a really grumpy mood.

Darius walked over to me, concern hidden deep within his eyes. “This world runs off of the life forces that surround it. Earth is full of life force, so Earth is what our world mostly relies on to survive. You being here is causing this world to drain your life energy away from you, because you are acting as a direct source of energy. If your body doesn’t get used to this world and soon, you could die.”
