The next morning, I woke up to Sasha chewing on my fingers. I drowsily pushed the cat off my bed, wanting to go back to sleep. Sasha landed on the floor, his bell around his collar jingling. He jumped back up to my bed, and all was still. I was being pulled back to sleep, when I felt a sharp nick on the tip of my nose.

"Ow you stupid cat!" I yelled, shooting up in bed, my hand making its way to rub my nose, trying to soothe it. Sasha bit my nose!

I just happened to glance at my clock on my bedside table and I saw that I woke up twenty minutes late!

"Oh shoot nuggets!" I cursed loudly, jumping from my very tempting bed and running around my apartment like a chicken with its head cut off.

When I was in my work uniform, I scrubbed my face and ran a brush through my hair before flying down the stairs and running down the streets to the diner I worked at. I bumped into people and earned dirty looks from them, but I was more worried about the look my boss would give me if I was late once again.

When I finally arrived, I made it one minute before I was supposed to be there. I clocked in exactly on time with a bright smile on my slender face.

"You've been cutting it close to being late Noelani. Don't make me have to fire you." A woman's deep voice said, popping my balloon of victory with her warning.

I turned around slowly and saw that it was my boss, Miranda.

"Oh hey there Miranda." I said slowly. "Luckily you won't have to fire me today. I made it on time just like you told me to!"

She scowled at me sourly before turning and stomping away irritably. She didn't like me very much. Especially not after I spilled a stack of pancakes on her on my first day, while she was on break. I've been on her bad side ever since. But what can I say? I'm a clumsy person at heart.

I tied an apron around the waist of my mustard yellow dress that reached just a little below my knees. I walked towards the dining area of Miranda's Breakfast, the diner I worked at. It was busy as usual, and as usual I walked around the tables taking the orders of many of our customers before taking the orders to the kitchen so that the staff back there will get everything ready.

Once the orders were done I picked them up off the counter they were placed on and I delivered them accordingly. A few college guys at a table were lightly flirting with me, and I teased back a little because they were our regular customers and because I tend to unintentionally flirt with guys all the time. At least that's what I've been told. I asked Mary about it, and she said that I was just charming and sweet and people just took it the wrong way.

When my shift was over, I hung up my apron and I clocked out. I threw on my jacket for warmth, and I grabbed my things and left the diner. It was later in the afternoon. I glanced at my watch and saw that it was six thirty. I had been working so hard that I didn't notice how much time had went by. I walked through the park, surprised to not see a bunch of families out on such a beautiful day.

The wind blew by me, causing my jacket to flutter around my body and my hair to wave in the wind. Although it was a sunny day, I often got chills whenever the wind was to blow. I shivered and hugged my arms close around my body, rubbing my hands along my forearms to gather some warmth.

"Well look who it is." A sly voice called out to me, a chuckle then following.

I stopped walking and turned to look to my left. There were the college guys from my diner whom I had served. I couldn't believe I had been daydreaming so much that I didn't notice a group of men watching me.
