I was sitting in a tree not far from the castle. Noel had went inside hours ago. She was probably sick of hearing me whine, but I couldn't help it.

A squirrel crawled along the same branch I was lazily perched on. The squirrel had green fur, and its eyes were all blue. It stared at me for a long time and I stared back at him. He figured I wasn't  threat and went about his business. He scurried away from me quickly.

I looked up into the quickly darkening sky, aware that it was a little dangerous for fairies to be wandering around Stygian alone. It was always recommended that at least two fairies travel together in the dark, so that they may have a chance against a savage vampire.

The squirrel came back, and he stared at me once more, this time with an acorn in his mouth.

"What are you staring at?" I snapped at him. I looked away from him in anger.

He chipped at me, and came a little closer to where I sat.

"I'm not falling for it." I said, still looking away from him. Still he crawled closer to me, squeaking at me.

I looked back at him and watched him. His green fur glistened without any light hitting it. "Okay fine. You got me."

I pulled a small piece of celery out of my pocket and held it out for him. I laughed as he ran over to me, snatched it out of my hand and started to scarf it down. "Slow down or you'll choke."

Animals were always my favorite things to hang around. They never judged you and they couldn't call you names. Most of the creatures here in our world are quiet and humble creatures. As long as you don't bother them, they won't bother you.

I've spent a long time in random places feeding all kinds of animals. It's gotten to the point where all animals I run into expect me to give them a treat. It's a little ridiculous that I have to carry treats around on me all day.

"Every time you disappear, I always find you messing around with a different type of animal." A deep familiar voice called out to me. I peered down from my branch and found Rafael staring up at me with a smirk on his face.

My cheeks burned with evidence of my attraction to him, and I immediately looked away. I didn't respond back to him, for I feared that I would become saddened all over again.

"Ah, the silent treatment. Your punishment that you excel in giving me." Rafael sighed. There was a moment of silence, and then I heard him grunting as he pulled himself up on the branch I was sitting on.

The squirrel dashed away quickly, his cheeks full of celery. Faster then I could blink, he disappeared into the tree tops.

I made sure to keep my face away from Rafael as he settled in beside me. He left a comfortable amount of space in between us, and for some reason that felt wrong to me.

"So, you must have found out." Rafael stated.

"I don't know what it is that you are referring to." I said back in a stiff tone.

"Ash, I know you know about the engagement. Why else would you be acting this way?"

"I'm not acting anyway Rafael, I am only sitting here, enjoying the weather." Even as I said this, I knew it sounded ridiculous. The sky was quickly darkening, and a storm was brewing. I hate rain sometimes.

"Asherah. I need for you to listen to me. Let me explain myself." He pleaded.

I scoffed. "You don't need to explain yourself Rafael, you're a grown man and royalty at that.I knew it was going to come."

Stiffly I hopped down from the tree branch, and started to march away from him. I didn't get far when I felt Rafael tugging on my hand.

"Asherah, you have no right to be acting this way. You know it is my duty to serve my kingdom. What better way for me to serve my kingdom than to form an alliance that could be most beneficial for my people?" Rafael snapped, quickly losing his temper.
