Jasper held my hand as we entered the Cullen household, Edward and Bella in front of us. Laurent stood there, in their house, about to leave. Jasper put himself in front of me, ready to attack. Edward and Bella were just behind us.
"Wait," Carlisle ordered. "He came to warn us about James," he told.
"This isn't my fight and I've grown tired of his games," Laurent reassured. "But he's got unparalleled senses, absolutely lethal. I've never seen anything like him in my three hundred years. And the woman, Victoria, don't underestimate her," he warned. I let out a deep breath, one I didn't realise I was holding. With that, the vampire left.
"I've had to fight our kind before," Jasper spoke as everyone moved to the garage, getting prepared for the inevitable fight. "We're not easy to kill."
"But not impossible," Emmett finished. "We'll tear him apart and burn the pieces."
"I don't relish the thought of killing another creature. Even a sadistic one like James," Carlisle voiced. I glanced down from where I stood (next to Edward and Bella while Jasper prepared everyone).
"What if he kills one of us first?" Rosalie questioned as she sat down on the counter.
"I'm gonna run Bella south and then lead the tracker away from here," Edward informed. Thanks, Edward.
"No, Edward. James knows you'd never leave Bella. He'll follow you," Carlisle reasoned.
"I'll go with Bella and Sky, Emmett and I will drive them south," Alice suggested. There was a pause as Edward showed obvious conflict as he read her mind. "I'll keep them safe, Edward."
"Can you keep your thoughts to yourself?" He spat.
"Yes," she muttered, leading Bella and me away and towards one of the cars. I sent Jasper a small smile.
"Rosalie, Esme, could you put these on so the tracker will pick up Sky's and Bella's scents?" He requested, throwing some of our clothing at them.
"Why? What is Bella to me?" Rosalie asked, throwing Bella's coat to the side.
"Rosalie," Carlisle began, pausing slightly as he picked up the coat. "Bella is with Edward. She is part of this family now and we protect our family." Rosalie gave in, taking the jacket from Carlisle.
"What is your problem with my sister?" I asked, looking towards her. Rosalie sent me a glare. "Fine, don't answer the question," I added, rolling my eyes. I slammed the car door. Jasper came to the window, leaning down.
"Don't die or get hurt," I instructed. "Any of you because I swear to God I will call on my ancestors to curse you in the afterlife," I joked, trying my best to not let them know I was kind of scared. Of course, Jasper already knew I was because despite not being able to read my emotions well due to the extent of them all, I knew my fear was the most evident. He cracked a small smile. "I'm serious."
