                        ALFIE

I woke up the morning after the party and all that was on my mind was Zoe. That one second kiss was the highlight of my night. I didn't care how childish it sounded beacuse it was actually the highlight. It was amazing and I know that it is hard for a kiss to be judged if it was barely a kiss but to me it wasn't the actual kiss but the fact that it was Zoe that gave it to me. I couldn't believe this. A girl that I met not even a day ago has me feeling like this. This was unusual for me. Infact it had never actually happened to me before.

I got up and walked through to the living room and I watched some TV.

Marcus came into the room around half an hour later. He ended up telling me that he was seeing someone from the party today for a coffee.

I shrugged it off, knowing it was just going to be some girl that he met, no one that I was going to know, I was barely at the party. I was with Zoe at Nandos.

Even Marcus telling me what he was doing for the day brought Zoe to my mind. I needed to think of something else.

I went to get ready for the day, doing my hair and putting on my clothes.  I heard Marcus on the phone in the living room so I walked through and sat down on the sofa whilst he was in the kitchen.

"Yeah, yeah okay. Yeah, I'll see you then. Okay bye Niomi."

My head snapped around to look at Marcus. He hung up the phone looking over at me.

"Did you say Niomi?" The girl from the night before flashed through my mind, absolutely stunning, with the blonde hair and black dress.

"Yeah, I met her at the party last night. She gave me her number but she was pretty drunk. Turns out she does actually remember that part of the night so we're all good."

"Was she wearing a black dress, and black heels and had long blonde hair?"

"Yeah, how'd you know her?" Marcus asked suspiciously.

"She was the one that actually got me up and dancing. She is really nice as far as I'm aware." I said quickly, letting him know I wasn't involved with her.

"I pick the good ones Alfie, don't you worry." He said jokingly, knowing I had picked up on his previous tone of voice.

"Yeah yeah Marcus, you just go and get ready for your date." I laughed.

"Date? I wouldn't call it a date...."

"Marcus, it's a date, get over it. You are going on a date. It is okay to admit it." I smiled.

Marcus just laughed to himself then went through to his room. I went through to mine a few minutes after to grab some stuff before I went out for a walk around Brighton. It was a nice day outside and I didn't have anything else to do. I decided a walk along the beach would be nice as I hadn't been down in a while.

Walking along the beach a while later I got out my camera to take some photos. I looked through the screen at the landscape. There was the sun was glistening on the water, there were people walking along and I heard the crashing of the waves and the laughing of a group of girls walking along the beach.

"Alfie!?"

I looked up from my camera to see none other than Zoe from the party last night walking towards me. I thought I had recognised one of the laughs from the group of girls.

"Zoe! Oh my god, fancy seeing you here! How are you?" I couldn't get this girl out of my mind or my company. Not that I minded.

"I'm good actually, do you want to go for a coffee or something? My friends can carry on without me." She asked eagerly.

"Yeah sure, Niomi with yous?" I said a little to keen.

"Yeah, but she has to go and meet this guy from the party last night. How'd you know Niomi?"

"She got me up dancing last night before I went outside."

"Ah, okay. Well I'm just going to go and tell them to carry on."

Zoe went back over to her friends and they all looked over at me and smiled. I awkwardly stood there as the group of around six girls all looked over. I smiled slightly laughing quietly to myself, they couldn't have made it much more obvious they were speaking about me.

Zoe skipped back over to me a few minutes later and we walked towards my favourite coffe shop in Brighton. It was like I had known Zoe for ages. She had this smile that brightened your mood and her eyes were this mesmorising shade of blue, it reminded me of the the shade of the sea on a nice day.

We spoke and laughed and just had a really good time. We decided to go back to mine to carry on speaking and whatever else as the coffee shop was closing and it was getting close to raining outside.

We were around a 5 minute walk from my flat I shared with Marcus when it started to rain. And it didn't just spit rain it started to pour down. We started to run towards my flat and when we finally reached it I got us upstairs and we ran in through the door. Laughing and taking off our wet jumpers. Marcus and Niomi turned around to face us just looking. They obviously didn't expect us. Or at least that is why they looked at us in the way they were. They looked shocked. I looked at Zoe who looked upset. I was clearly missing a piece of this puzzle.

"Marcus?" Zoe said, sounding hurt.

"Zoe, I uh, I can explain." Marcus said sounding worried.

Zoe's eyes instantly crossed to look at Niomi. "Niomi! How could you do this to me!?" Zoe raised her voice at her.

"What's happening? How do you know all know each other?" I asked, confused.

"Well Alfie let me fill you in. My best friend Niomi is meeting up with her 'mystery man' right now. Marcus Butler, the asshole that treated me like shit when we were together! And she know all about him!" Zoe shouted.

"You went out with my best friend, Marcus!?" I was so confused as to what was actually going on right now.

"He is your best friend? Well I didn't think I'd ever meet two opposites. I'm leaving now, this is awkward and I can't stand to be in this room any longer." Zoe sounded like she could start crying as she picked up her wet jumper from the chair beside her and rushed out, slamming the door behind her.

I stood there bewildered, do I ask Marcus what the hell is going on or do I go and see if Zoe is okay? Before I had a chance to think about it, Marcus sprinted from his seat and ran out of the flat, leaving the door wide open behind him. All I could hear was him calling her name. I knew instantly that if I was to follow them I would never get the information I needed on the situation.
