Chapter 74: Not Anymore
Maingat kong nilapag ang clear vase sa gitna ng lamesa. I positioned it properly and wiped the droplets of water left on its surface. The black pebbles which served as the foundation of the roses matched with the petals.
Mas lalong nagbigay ng kombinasyon ang mga pulang guhit at marka sa palibot nito. The vase with the roses alone symbolized danger and beauty at the same time.
Namangha ako sa ganda ng ginawa ko. I never thought I would appreciate it aside from the creep and chills that it brought me awhile ago.
“Itapon mo na nga 'yan! I might have nightmares because of those roses from your witch of a stepsister!” sermon ni Ares habang pinagmamasdan ako sa paghanga sa mga bulaklak.
“Can't help it. It's beautiful.”
“Duh?! Beautiful? Nasaan ang maganda diyan?”
“It's beautiful, Arrisandra.”
Disastrously beautiful.
Bumuntong hininga si Ares at nagpatuloy kumain sa mga pinamili namin kanina. “Whatever you say...” sumubo siyang muli at pinagmasdan ako. “So what you're going to do? Ganyan na lang ba iyan, Lian?”
Muli kong pinagmasdan ang mga bulaklak sa table.
“Are you going to let your stepsister from hell do this nasty things?”
Hahayaan ko na lang ba siya?
Of course..
Not.
Not anymore.
The endless talking of Arrisandra was interrupted by the vibration coming from my phone on the center table.
Dinampot ko iyon at sinulyapan kung sino ang tumatawag.
Manager Ahn calling...
I bet he already arrived. He's in-charge of my career ever since I decided to start rebuilding my passion and taking myself to a higher stage. Siya parin ang mag-aasikaso sa akin kahit na nasa Pilipinas na ako.
He turned me to something I couldn't even imagine. I thank him for that. I've been part of different world-famous magazines like Cosmopolitan using the screen name, Shin Cerine.
“Hello, Mr. Ahn?” sambit ko pagkasagot sa kabilang linya.
“Good evening, Cerine. I just got here,” aniya. Good thing he's very fluent in English. Hindi pa naman ako masyadong bihasa sa Korean language.
“How's the flight? Where will you be staying, Mr. Ahn?” I asked.
“The agency already booked a hotel for me,” he laughed. “You seem to be a precious gem for them. They made sure I'll be guarding you here. No other agendas.” Biro niya.
“Do they really think I would do something?” I chuckled. I remembered when I accidentally became part of a shoot that I shouldn't be. Mind you, it's an FHM magazine and I was just on my first step on the bracket of legal age.
“You're in the highest peak of your career, Cerine. And as for the agency who got you, it would be time for them to build walls.”
“Don't flatter me too much, Mr. Ahn.”
“Nah, be used to it. Anyway, is your schedule clear? I'll see you this Friday afternoon.”
