I bit my lip and looked up at the clock. I had 10 minutes left for the ACT and I was free for the rest of the day. Or what that actually meant was curled up in the corner of my room with a book pressed to my nose "time!" called out the teacher. I dropped my pencil and looked at my essay one more time "blah blah blah pass the packets forward" said the ditzy blonde substitute teacher we had "have fun" she popped her gun letting us leave the room

"Hey killer" Sam smirked leaning against the wall across from my ACT room

"Have you been there this whole time?" I laughed walking up to him

"Well my class finished 20 minutes ago so pretty much" he shrugged pushing himself off the wall "now ik you're going to go home and stuff your face into a book, but I'm not letting you" he grabbed my hand rushing down the hall

"But samm..." I laughed and whined as we ran outside "in reading The Fault in Our Stars"

"And you also read that last week, here's a spoiler gus dies" he grinned opening his car door

"I hate you" I rolled my eyes laughing as I got into his car "where are we even going?"

"You'll see" he smiled starting the car

"Can we at least stop by my house to get my book?" I begged

"I guess" he huffed Rollin down the windows and lighting a cigarette

"You should really stop that" I looked at him

"Bad habits are hard to kill" he smirked placing the cigarette between his teeth and slowly closing his lips around it

I shook my head and looked out the window. No one liked out town, but I did. Sure it was small and no one knew where we were, but we were a cute small town "how'd you start?" I asked

"Start what?" he furrowed his eye brows while flicking the cigarette a few times before putting it back in his mouth

"Smoking?" I looked at him. I knew smoking was terrible for you, but damn did he look hot doing it

"I went to a party one day and got a little tipsy and my friends were telling me to try it and ever since then I've been addicted, plus it helps release stress" he blew smoke out f his nose and flicked the cigarette out the window

"Ohh" I looked back out the window as we pulled into my drive way "I'll only be a few seconds"

"Alright" he smiled tapping his fingers along the steering wheel to the music

I ran inside and grabbed my book and changed my clothes. I threw on my yoga pants and a old t-shirt and left "back" I smiled opening the door and sitting down

"You changed" he laughed

"I'm not about to sit in this car with jeans and a blouse on" I smiled buckling up

"You look good either way" he smirked backing out of my drive way

"Shut up Samuel" I laughing. I rolled the window down and stuck my feet out and opened my book
