"Come here" i smiled at Sam helping him fix his tie "you look handsome"
"Thank you" he whispered smiling
For the past few days Sam hadn't been himself, his smile had faded, his laugh wasn't there, and he was less touchy feely "hey it's okay" I smiled lifting his chin up with my index finger
"I know" he mumbled trying to hold back tears
"Come here" I smiled hugging him
His large arms squeezed my torso bringing me off the ground a little "thank you" he smiled setting me down
"You're more than welcome" I kissed his cheek and walked towards the front door "come on"
"Rose, i can't" he shook his head
"Yes you can" I walked up to him cupping his face and kissing him
It was weird usually Sam was making me feel better, but now it was my turn and it felt nice "I don't know" he let a tear roll down his cheek
"I know, you can" I smiled holding his hand
I decided that I would drive, since Sam wasn't in the best position too
"Ready?" I asked walking up to the funeral homes doors
"No" he breathed
I squeezed his hand and brought him inside. The room smelt of cheap booze, smoke, and perfumes "Hi aunt Tina" he waved pulling me close to him
"Hey stud" a young man walked up to him
"Not now Kyle" Sam glared at him
"Who's the pretty lady?" he asked
"My girlfriend, now if you'll excuse us" he pushed past him
"Sam" I stopped "i know your upset, but try to be nice" I begged
"I'll try" he softly spoke show me our seats
We sat down and the service started. I looked over at Sam who had tears brimming his eyes, I placed my hand on his thigh. He looked over at me and gave me a small smile grabbing my hand and giving it a small squeeze and looking away.
"I'm so sorry for your lose" a women came up to Sam
He just half smiled and looked at the coffin "Sam" I tugged at his arm
"Hmm" he asked looking at the coffin still
"Wheres....Nevermind" I shook my head
"No, what?" he asked
"Where your mom?" I asked biting my lip
"Who knows" he looked over at me "she hasn't been home in forever"
"If...if you want you can stay with me" I looked at him
"Thanks" he smiled kissing my forehead
I gave him a shy smile and held on to his arm resting my head on his shoulder "hey, I have to help carry my nana" sam looked at me "you're going to ride with my friend Chris"
"Ohh, alright" I looked over at the kid. He was chatting with one of the older ladies when he looked at us giving me a head nod
"It's okay, he dosent bite" sam joked rubbing my arm "I'll see you at the cemetery" he kissed me good bye and went and stood by the rest of the men
"I'm Chris" he said when we got into the car
"Rosemary" I looked at him
"Sams said a lot about you" he smiled started the car
"Oh" I whispered
"You're a shy one. Huh?" he laughed
"Mhmm" I nodded my head looking out the window
"That's strange, sam usually goes for spontaneous girls or whores" he chuckled to himself
"I'm not a whore" I looked at him
"Never said you were, but becareful Sams a wild one"
"I can handle myself" I looked at him
"Never said you couldnt" he said "now I see why Sam likes you, your feisty"
"Yeah" I ignored him turning my head and whacking my head against the window
"You okay?" Chris asked laughing
"Fine" I rolled my eyes as we pulled into the cemetery
I watched as Sam brought up the casket. He had tears in his eyes. It pained me seeing him like this. He walked over to me and wrapped his arm around my lower back kidding the top of my head.
