"R...rose" Sam cried over the phone
"Sam?" I panicked "Sam what happened?" I asked
"Can....can you come over?" he asked hiccuping
"Yeah" I hung up the phone and rushed down stairs
"Where are you going?" my mom asked
"Sam needs me" I yelled
"It's nearly 10 at night!" she yelled
"Mother, you have Chris to keep you company, I can see his shoes. I need to go" I rushed out the door
I nearly speed down the highway to his house. When I got there I didn't bother turning my car off "Sam!" I yelled banging on the door "Sam!"
"Rose" he whispered opening the door
"Sam, what happened?" I asked
"Shes....shes gone" he cried
"Who's gone? sam what happened?" I panicked grabbing his hand
"My NaNa" he cried. I wiped a tear away from his eyes and walked into the house
"Sam, how?" I asked cupping his face
"Cancer....lu...lung cancer" he hiccuped
"Oh baby" I frowned bring his head down to my shoulder so I could hold him
His arms squeezed the living day lights out of me, but I wasn't going to say anything. My ribs were semi-healed and even though he was smashing them, all that mattered was him being in my arms
We fell to the ground and I held him "shhh" I cooed running my fingers through his hands
It suddenly became clear to me why he'd been home alone all the time "why" he cried into my shoulder
"It's okay" I calmly said, thankful we fell to the ground so his grip wasn't squeezing my ribs "come on"
"Wh....what?" he asked
"Go lay down, I'll bring you some tea" I smiled looking at him. His eyes were bloodshot and his face was red
"Don't leave me" he whispered pulling me back into him. My back was pressed against his stomach and he rested his chin on my shoulder
"I wouldn't dream of it" I whispered turning myself so we were face to face
"Good" he pressing his forehead to mine
"For as long as I live" I smiled kissing him "now go lay down" I smiled pulling away
"Come with me, please. I don't need tea" he looked at me with sad eyes
"Come on" I whispered grabbing his hand as we walked up the stairs
When we got into Sams room he clung to me like a child "let's lay down" I whispered to Sam. He looked so innocent clinging to me. He looked like a little boy hugging his mom
"Stay? please?" he begged
"Of course" I whispered walking towards the bed "come lay down" I told him
Sam stood up and climbed into the bed, hovering over me for a second, looking into my eyes. I trailed my hands to the back of his neck "it's okay" I whispered
"I know" he whispered dipping his was down to kiss me
The kiss was slow and passionate, he traveled his left hand to under neath my back to pull me closer to him. Soon enough, there was no space between us "everything will turn out fine" I mumbled against his lips
"As long as you're here, i know it will" he smiled rolling over the his side
He brought me on to him, holding me close and tight. I listened to the steady beat if his heart as he slowly drifted to sleep.
Sam wasn't as bad of a bad boy as everyone thought. He was just a misunderstood teenager. All he needed was someone to love him, someone who would care for him. Sam wasn't perfect, but neither was I. But to me Sam was more than perfect.
