Want to know why they named the hill 666? Well, the hill was sloped at an exact 66-degree angle. The other 6? Well believe it or not an entire army was wiped out here. The U.S.R.R 5th Rifle squads consisted of rookies and penal soldiers they were tasked to hold this place. When suddenly they were surrounded by the Elite' Zealots' of the Vatican Armed Forces it turned to a slaughter. Nobody from the U.S.R.R came back alive. It was a crushing defeat than to add more bodies the Renegades seized control of the hill wiping the tired and exhausted V.A.F forces. Rumour has it that if you take a stroll around the forest near the hill during 2-3 AM. You will see the ghosts of the men who died in that mount. The bodies that piled that day were so high that it was common to find skeletons of the fallen around the foot of the hill.
"Here we are, boys. The dreaded Hill 666." Boone leads us on top of the hill. The place was already fortified it was abandoned by the former Renegade soldiers.
As I stood on top of the hill I saw lines of trenches and bunkers around. Taking the top is near suicidal. Alexander and Queen are holding the line if their line snaps we could get surrounded.
But we can't let this hill fall to enemy hands. This place is a jump-off point to the Red and Green zone. Basically a shortcut without having to wade through the deadly swamps. A vital trade route.
The commander of the defenses is Spore himself.
"Everybody I want the trenches to be reinforced! Your lives will depend on it so do not half-ass this one!" Spore commanded us.
We were well armed and well equipped. The vest I was given did not stop bullets but it was better than the chest rig. It held three of my magazines. I have issued a Pipebomb and a GP-5 gas mask.
As I walked up the hill I looked at the Gas Mask it smelled like rubber and I have seen plenty of these but it has been so long that the white rubber turned to a light yellowish color.
"Well, Trailblazer you have reached the fight I see!" Spore greeted me
"Sir Thank you, Sir!" I said and gave him a solid salute. He ordered me to put it down.
"I hope we won't join the bodies here." Fiddle said.
"Don't say that damn it!" Chatterbox retorted
"Will you two shut the fuck up!?" Taz said silencing both of them.
"I know most of you are having doubts that the V.A.F will surround us and the same bloody battle will happen. But we have a solid and well-guarded supply line. They will all die before they can even touch the soil of this hill!"
"Sir! Do you think the Machine gun post covers more ground?" Canary stood from the trenches. He was shirtless and had a shovel in hand.
We were glad to see each other.
"Well, Alexi I'm happy to see you fine and well!"
"Thanks, Sir. Sorry I got you hurt back there."
"What are you talking about Trailblazer? That raid was a success."
That felt good. Never in my life was I appreciated at work, At least here things are simple. These are the few upsides of Army life.
We spent two days on that hill. It was awfully quiet but Spore received the constant stream of news on the radio from Queen and Alexander. I spent those quiet times practicing with my sighting and reloading of my AK74 there were lots of spare ammunition and command didn't mind. Some days we slept the days off and some we were getting ready for the inevitable attack.
Remember how I told you that the Hill is a shortcut? That same hill can pick up radio frequencies from the U.S.R.R, and the V.A.F.
Apparently, the V.A.F has the strongest radio signal. Every time we tuned in all we heard were church songs. It was boring. During Sunday it was radio silence. From time to time we would hear the leader of these freaks 'Pope Agustine' give a sermon.
