Alaska and I were in my room getting ready for winter formal. Alaska was curling her brunette hair and I had straightened my dirty blonde hair. Neither of us liked make up so we didn't put much on.

"How do I look?" I asked turning in a circle.

"Good," Alaska said giving me a thumbs up.

I felt so weird. I never wore dresses, make up, or did my hair. Only times like this.

"How do I look?" Alaska said a few minutes later.

"Great," I gave her a thumbs up too.

"Let's leave then."

"After my parents tell us how beautiful we are," I said laughing.

We walked downstairs and sure enough my mom and dad were waiting for us.

"You girls look beautiful," my dad told us.

"Thank you," we both said, trying to leave as soon as possible.

They took a few pictures of us and we finally got to leave.

"Oh my god. My parents are the worst," I said when we got into my car.

"They're not that bad."

"Not right now," I corrected.

That night Alaska and I had pretty much danced as horribly as we could. I was dancing when I saw Jack standing with a group of boys. Most of which I knew but some I couldn't tell who they were. He turned and saw me staring at him. He smiled at me and I smiled back. God he was so fucking good looking.

You have no idea how bad I wanted to walk over there right now. But that would defeat the whole purpose of keeping this a secret. I didn't really need my parents finding out.

I went back to dancing with Alaska and Jack went back to doing whatever he was doing.

Later that night Alaska and I were laying in her room doing our usual, looking at our phones, still in our dresses and make up.

"I don't want to get up," I said groaning, "I'm too lazy."

"Same," Alaska responded.

"Do you think I could just sleep in this?" I asked.

"Are you serious?" she asked.

"I've never been more serious in my life."

"Go for it."  she agreed.

"I will," I said closing my eyes, "Night."

"Loser," she mocked.

"Fuck you too."

"That was the best decision I ever made," I told Alaska changing out of my dress the next morning.

"Sleeping in your dress?"

"Yes. I didn't even mess it up and I didn't have to get up."

"Oh my god you're so lazy," Alaska said laughing.

"So are you," I pointed out.

"True," she said shrugging her shoulders.

We went to her kitchen and dug through her cabinets.

"Nothing," she said finally.

"You want to go somewhere?" I asked.

"Yeah. Let me tell my mom first," Alaska walked to her moms room and came back a couple minutes later, "Lets go."
