Twenty-Two

I had woken up periodically throughout the night because today was the day Sam was coming back. He wasn't coming back until this afternoon but I was so excited, it had only been a week but it was a week too long. I didn't know what I was going to do when he left in a few weeks to go on tour with Jack and Jack, or when I left for college, also in a few weeks.

When I woke up at 6 a.m I figured I wasn't going back to sleep so I got up and walked downstairs to the kitchen, where I saw my dad and immediately turned around. I hadn't said more than a few words to him since the other day and I didn't plan on talking to him any time soon. I heard him sigh and go back to doing whatever he was doing. It was crazy to think about how much had changed in this family in less than a year. Less than a year ago we all had our secrets but we kept them exactly that, a secret. And now everything was out in the open and we were growing apart.

"Lakyn. Why wont you talk to me?" my dad called after me. I stopped walking and thought about it for a second. I just felt like he was the reason our family wasn't a family anymore and I couldn't look at him the same way anymore.

"Because you ruin everything," I finally answered. He had not only ruined this family but he had ruined my relationship with Jack, which might have been for the better than the worse but it was still just one of the things he had ruined.

I got to my room just as my phone started ringing. I didn't know why someone was calling me at all, let alone at 6 in the morning but I answered it anyway.

"Hello?" I asked, realizing I hadn't even looked at the caller ID.

"Lakyn, come with me. I'm going to get a tattoo." It was Alaska.

"Oh my god. Can you just chill with the changes for a second, Alaska?" I asked. In less than 6 months she had gotten her belly button pierced, dyed her hair, and gotten her lip pierced.

"No I can't chill. My mom finally gave in and I need to seize this opportunity before she changes her mind."

"When are you going?" I asked, sighing.

"Noon."

"Then why are you calling me at 6 to ask me to go in six hours?"

"I don't know. I was just really excited and I needed to know ASAP."

"You're the weirdest person I know," I said. "I'll see you at noon."

"I'm sure you awake anyway. You never sleep anymore," she said and hung up.

It was true. I didn't sleep that much because I was so busy now. I was either with Sam or Alaska doing something.

I took a shower and let my hair air dry. I sat in my bed in my bra and underwear until 10 because I was too lazy to get up and actually put clothes on. It was alarming how often I actually did this though, I would hardly ever wear actual clothes if I didn't have to. I was also so tired I couldn't think straight. I was had the weirest questions and no one to ask.

If Jesus can walk on water, can he swim on land? I asked Sam.

Lakyn, are you high? he asked.

No. I'm just really tired and full of questions right now.

To answer your question, I have no idea.

Also. How do snakes have sex. You never see a snake with a penis or a vagina.
