Hey cutie. Wanna do something this Saturday? Jack asked.

Yeah definitely, I replied.

I was practically jumping up and down right now. The only thing stopping me from actually jumping up and down was the fact I was in public with my parents, my family was currently shopping for Zoe's 15th birthday. But that didn't stop me from having a huge stupid smile on my face.

"What?" my mother asked.

"Oh it's nothing," I said, going back to looking at dresses.

Just then my phone vibrated. I winced because I knew my parents would make me let them read it. I was right because my dad held out his hand palm up. I put my phone in his palm and he pulled it in so he could read the message.

"Who is Jack?" my father asked, "and why do you have plans with him on Saturday night?"

"Don't worry he's just a friend," I said, trying to to take my phone back.

"Lakyn, you know better than to take something out of someone's hands. And you better cancel your plans with Jack. No boys, you know the rules," my mother said, sternly.

"Okay," I said.

"I'll text him so I know for sure your plans are cancelled," my father said typing on my phone, "There."

I took my phone back and sighed. We went on with shopping for Zoe for her birthday.

I ordered her one of those lokai bracelets so I didn't have to worry about finding her something today. My parents got her a new wallet she said she had wanted.

I didn't look at my phone again until we got home and I was safe in my room. When I did I saw I had a few texts from Jack about 'me' canceling Saturday.

Okay. That's fine, one text read.

Sorry. That was my dad. I'm not really allowed to hang out with boys but Saturday is still most definitely on. I'll figure out how, I told him.

Lakyn, I don't want you to get in trouble over me, he was so sweet.

It just made me so much angrier at my parents stupid rules.

The entire week I had been trying to plan how I would see Jack.

"Hey mom," I said getting my mom's attention, "Can I go over to Alaska's?"

"Yeah sure. Be back by 6," she said.

I figured she'd realized what I was doing and ground me, but I guess she was too busy with Zoe's birthday.

"Okay. I'll see you then," I kissed her on the cheek and walked out the door.

Okay. I'm on my way, I texted Jack.

I had also been talking to Jack about sneaking out. He didn't really want me to but I had to. This might be the only chance I ever had to go on a date with Jack.

When I got to Jack's house I saw a person walking out the door. I'm assuming it was his mom. I got of the car and walked to the door.

"Oh you must be Lakyn," the woman said to me, "I'm Jack's mom."

She held out a hand and I shook it, "Nice to meet you."

"Alright well I'll see you later," she said walking away, "You can just go in."

I did what she said and walked in.
