Jamie let out a groan as she looked down at her Potions homework. "Stupid Snape and his stupid essays that have to be extra long just because stupid Malfoy had to go and..."
"Bet your stupid potions essay isn't as stupid as my Transfiguration homework,"
Jamie looked up from the homework she had not been doing to see a Hufflepuff sitting down the table from her in the library. He had shaggy brown hair, blue eyes, and Jamie couldn't remember what she had been complaining about before he showed up.
"You have extremely blue eyes"
The boy laughed, "Thanks, I guess. I'm Cedric by the way."
"Wait, Cedric as in Cedric Diggory? Captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team and their seeker?"
Cedric winced, "You don't happen to be one of those Gryffindors who are still mad at us for winning, are you?"
Jamie squinted at the boy in front of her. "Did you really ask for a rematch?"
"Yes..."
"You're forgiven, but only if you help me with my Potions essay!"
Cedric smiled, "Deal! But could you help me with my Transfiguration homework?"
"Sure!"
"Also, what's your name?"
"Jamie!" The two shook hands.
Cedric moved to the chair across from Jamie and the two got to work.
They got Jamie's essay done and it was even longer then Snape had required it to be! Not to mention Cedric's Transfiguration became easy as cake with Jamie's help.
"So, are you excited for the Halloween Feast?" Cedric asked as they packed up their school things.
"Not particularly, I'm not a huge fan of parties. What about you?"
"I'm not a party person myself, but at least the food will be good!"
Jamie laughed as they exited the library. "You make a good point!"
To be honest, it wasn't that Jamie hated parties, she just hated Halloween. Though who could blame her? The anniversary of your mother's death is not something one would look forward to.
"I have to go, see you later Jamie!"
"Bye," Jamie waved but Cedric had already gone. His really were blue.
"You going out to the forest again?"
Jamie turned to see Hermione standing in the doorway of their shared bedroom. "Yeah, figured I'd get in some reading you know?"
"Jamie..."
"Hermione, don't worry about me, I'll be fine" Jamie smiled and squeezed her friend's shoulder before leaving.
She passed Ron and Harry in the common room, who gave her a knowing look. They all knew what today was and that Jamie preferred to left alone.
"Jamie!"
Jamie turned to see Remus walking down the corridor towards her.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm just going for a walk around the grounds," She answered. Remus looked out the window to see the sun setting and gave her a look.
