"Tell me where the child is foolish girl!" A woman screeched. Jamie peeked through the crack in the wardrobe she hid in. She could barely make out the stranger's face and her wild black hair.
"You'll have to kill me first," The other woman growled. A bright orange light appeared in her hand. Heat radiated off the small fire.
"You could have been so much more... If you had just-"
"Save your shitty speech and get out of my house! I won't join you and you will never find my daughter!"
The figure stepped closer. "You've lost your friends, your husband has joined us, why bother-"
The fire grew stronger and the stranger jumped back. "Get out!" She screamed again.
The figure raised her wand with lightning speed. "Avada Kedavra!" She shouted. A bright, green light filled the room and Angelina Black screamed.
Jamie sat up straight in her bed. Her body was covered in sweat and she was struggling to breathe. Jamie rushed into her restroom and turned on the shower, turning the knob all the way to the right. She jumped in, not bothering to undress. Ice cold water beat down on her skin, steam filled the bathroom. Jamie sat down in the bathtub, her breathing began to return to normal. She pressed her head against her knees and closed her eyes.
"It was a dream...it was a dream..." Jamie kept telling herself, but she didn't know if she could believe her own words. Was it a dream? Or could it be a memory? If it was a memory it didn't make sense. Jamie always thought Voldemort had killed her mother, but who had that woman been?
"Jamie?" A voice called out.
Jamie jumped and peaked out the shower curtain. She had left the door open and could see Remus walking into the bedroom. Jamie shut off the shower and climbed out. She exited the bathroom just as Remus turned on the lamp on her bedside table.
"Dear God!" He gasped upon seeing her. "Do you sleep in the shower?"
"No, sometimes my body temperature gets too high and its hard to breathe," Jamie explained. "Cold showers help."
Remus nodded, his expression still showed his worry. "And this just...happens?"
Jamie opened her mouth, but then closed it. She didn't want to talk about the dream. Didn't want to know if it could be true. Besides, Remus wasn't the one who would know.
"Yeah, I guess," Jamie answered. She didn't sound convincing at all.
"Alright, well, you might as well get dressed. We leave in half an hour," Remus stated heading for the door.
"Is Dad coming?"
"You're kidding, right? That drama queen needs his beauty sleep,"
Jamie giggled and Remus winked before leaving the room. Jamie closed her bedroom door and got changed. She put on some jeans and a grey tank top. She grabbed her bag and light jacket, knowing she wouldn't get cold but figured she should be prepared.
Jamie quietly walked down the stairs so she wouldn't wake Sirius. She entered the kitchen to see Remus sitting at the table drinking coffee. He motioned to the counter where the pot and a mug sat. Jamie poured herself some coffee before taking the seat beside her godfather.
"You pack everything you need?"
"Yep."
"Have your wand?"
"Yes,"
"Enough money?"
"Yes, Remus," Jamie chuckled. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. Mr. Weasley will be there the whole time."
